arewenearlythere
I loved this collection of seven short stories and they're up there in my favourites! 'Luck Break' is autobiographical and explains how Dahl started his career in writing after serving as a fighter pilot during World War II. Others include: Boy who talked with animals The hitch-hiker The Mildenhall treasure The Swan The wonderful story of Henry Sugar
FaustoMerckx
I recently picked up a couple of his short story collections whilst browsing through charity shops, I've only read a few of the stories so far but they have been brilliant. I didn't realise he wrote anything for older readers but I'm real glad he did, 'Tales of the Unexpected' is genius
wickedvoodoo
Damn. Memory lane trip. I had to read this for a project in English. This was probably before I even started GCSE's (24 now) so quite a while back. The title story is the one about the guy who trains himself to see through playing cards, no? Was a cool book if I remember rightly.
Deborah
Thanks so much for this, it's my nephew's birthday soon, and this collection will make a nice little present for him, as he has already read pretty much everything from Roal Dahl. nicola8989
I was given Someone Like You, another short story collection by Dahl, for World Book Night - I haven't read it yet but it does look good!
Warwick
I haven't read it, but the titles seem interesting enough to make me look for it the next time I go to the library...
