BookJumper Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I need an English copy of Luis Borges - most importantly of The Aleph and Other Stories, although I am a completist and would therefore prefer a complete works volume. Now, on both counts (i.e. The Aleph on its own or the complete works), I can only find currently in print the translation of an American called Andrew Hurley, who according to several Amazon reviewers does not do a terribly good job. Thoughts and suggestions muchly appreciated . Quote
libri vermis Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Definitely do not get the Hurley translation. Borges' works lost all of their beauty in that translation. I had it, and got rid of it, as I found it unreadable. I don't know of any other translation with his complete works. But if you find one, please let me know, as I would like a copy as well. Quote
