Kate Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I agree with both of those comments Catwoman. I've been supporting Chris and Ola for the whole series - I love them! I don't think Laila should be in next week even though I like Anton. Question: there are suppose to be three in the final, but since Jade has left there are not enough people, what will they do?
Stephanie2008 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I loved Chris and Ola this week and I hope that they get through to next week. I want and feel that Anton and Layla should go now. I agree I love Chris and Ola and want them to win. I think Laila and Anton have to go tonight, they are the weakest by far now.
Mia Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I'm glad Anton and Laila went, they were the worst dancers. What a treat to see Vincent and Flavia do their Argentine Tango! I'm a bit worried about Flavia this series though. She seems to have lost her sparkle and something doesn't seem right. Hope she's not ill or something.
poppyshake Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I wish there would be a three couple final ... it's so drawn out with a two couple final (too many of Bruce's jokes to cope with). It seems likely to be Chris and Ola in the final ... the only uncertainty is whether it will be Ali or Ricky to join him .. and if the past two weeks are anything to go by .. it looks like bye bye Ricky. Shame because he is a very talented dancer .. perhaps one of the best male celebs ever.
Mia Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I just can't really see it with Ricky... I think he's very over-rated to be honest. His dancing is very inconsistent. I'm not saying he isn't good, just that he's not as good as everyone says. The male celebs seem to get an easier ride than the females - as long as they don't fall over or forget their steps, everyone thinks they are wonderful, yet the females have to be perfect!

I like Ricky but I think he will go on Saturday. The public just isn't behind him and now the judges can't save him so I think it will be Ali and Chris in the final. I do agree with what you say about the male celebs. All the judges comments with the males are always about how hard it is for them to lead, or hard to keep in time. Well I think there are difficult things for the women too but they expect Ali to be perfect.
poppyshake Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Yes, and I think the Argentine Tango is going to be so much harder for Ali .. your eye is immediately drawn to the female in the AT ... I was watching Flavia far more than Vincent and she was the one doing all the really tricksy stuff. Ola and Natalie are going to be able to do that with ease .. and I expect if their men can keep with them and basically look the part then they'll be fine .. Ali is the one that keeps getting criticized for not showing enough passion ... two tango's in two weeks ... poor thing.
catwoman Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I know he is technically not the best but I love Chris and Ola, I am always fully watching when they are on. I have voted... GO TEAM COLA!!
Inver Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Yeh for wee Chris....his mates on the bbc are gonna be well chuffed.
catwoman Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Whooo hoooo! Team Cola are through! I am a little upset that Brian has had to go home. But I would rather him than COLA. I wonder how they are going to do their freestyle? This I cannot wait to see!! BRING ON THE FINAL!
Stephanie2008 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I didn't see tonights (have it taped) but I really want Chris to win I have never really been drawn to Ali though, and I don't mind Ricky. I will catch up later before commenting on the dances
chesilbeach Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I had convinced myself that the producers would pull some stunt to make it a three couple final again, but alas, it was not to be. Ali's injury must have still been causing problems as she was wearing really low heels for both dances, and I have to admit, I was a little surprised to see Ricky go through. I thought after two weeks in the dance off, Ricky was a shoo-in for bottom place with the public, with Ali second and Chris first, so when they called out Ricky's name, I knew Ali was going home. I'm a bit disappointed as Ricky's pigeon toes are so distracting, I find it hard to over look them, but I'm glad Chris & Ola went through regardless. The only thing I hope for the final is that neither couple try to attempt anything even remotely close to the World Champions show dance - that sort of thing just leaves me cold. It looks like a mixture of weightlifting and gymnastics, and I can never find any musicality in the routines. In the past, I've loved Darren & Lilia's, Zoe & Ian's and Mark & Karen's the most, and I'd really like to see something like that. Chris & Ola should work on a fun, comic routine, incorporating some of their Charleston while I think Ricky & Natalie should work to her strengths of ballroom choreography and give us a show stopping ballroom routine with better lifts!

I hated the freestyle professional dance last nnight, was just Acrobats with a little hip swaying in between. I hope Chris and Ola do something like Tom's last year with the comedy factor, just like you said like the Charlston.

And I thought you could tell that it was the Hairspray under-studies - mind you I loved it anyway! And yay for Austen I'm so excited Chris got through - I've been supporting him since the beginning. I'd like to see a Charlston again too

Mia Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 So this year's popularity contest rolls on. Well, it's obviously not a contest to find the best dancer, is it? Gah. The only thing I hope for the final is that neither couple try to attempt anything even remotely close to the World Champions show dance - that sort of thing just leaves me cold. It looks like a mixture of weightlifting and gymnastics, and I can never find any musicality in the routines. I thought that as well. It's basically a woman lifting her legs at impossible angles whilst being thrown around by a strongman, and though it was impressive, it was not really dancing as such. And I'm sure he nearly dropped her a few times!
SueK Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I really fancied Ali to go through to the final - her smoothie was just lovely. I'm not a big fan of Ricky but with Team Cola in the final you just can't predict the outcome. Btw Darcy was just wonderful. Ian looked in awe of her when they were dancing together.
Stephanie2008 Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I finally watched it and I really liked Ricky's Argentine Tango. As I recorded it, I zoomed through a lot of the waffle but somehow managed to miss Darcey's dance. I think they edited it from mine I really didn't like Ali's Tango. I know she's great at the ballroom but I've never been wowed by her latin yet. I must be the only person who wasn't keen on Ali and I'm pleased with the final two
poppyshake Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I must be the only one who thinks Chris and Ola should not have got through .. nice guy and all that but he can't dance. Ali was a beautiful dancer and although her ballroom was better than her latin both were superior to Chris's. I'm annoyed too that they've bent the rules so that Chris and Ola are allowed to do the Charleston for their latin dance .. it isn't one. Ricky is a beautiful dancer .. I'm sure his dances will be fantastic but he won't win .. unless there is a major vote change .. which I doubt (though my Mum has switched her vote from Cola to him because she got fed up of the excessive bias on the BBC). I hope it's a good final anyway .. we get to see a 'lindy hop' which is new .. that'll be fun.
catwoman Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I don't care how bad they dance, I am going tobe voting for Team Cola!! GO TEAM COLA!!!!!
Kate Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Poppyshake: what do you mean BBC bias? I think it is right that they are allowed to do the Charleston. If they are going to add in new dances they should find a place in the final for it. I am sat here supporting Team Cola!

I would not have a problem with Ricky doing the Argintine Tango or Rock and roll. What a great two dances already. I thought the Lindihop was awesome!
chesilbeach Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I can sort of see what poppyshake is saying, as it is supposed to be a ballroom and a latin, and Charleston is neither, however, the salsa is not part of the official latin discipline either, but has been in the final for the last three years, so it's obviously never been a rule they've been stubborn about. I thought tonights first show was great, particularly good to see Jade & Ian's tango - I've been waiting for that for weeks! - and I'm voting Team Cola. They may not be technically the best dancers, but I love the personality and spirit they bring to the floor. I did love Ricky & Natalie's quickstep, but I just find them so earnest and sincere - it doesn't seem genuine.
catwoman Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I am sooo happy that they won. I voted 4 times. I have never done that before. I was constantly struggling to get through. I found their dances fun, entertaining and totallying awesome. Awe how sweet was Ola. I had a little tear in my eye.
chesilbeach Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I'm not going to tell you how many times I voted but I'm also absolutely delighted that Chris & Ola won And I admit, I was crying along with Ola - I can't see anyone else cry without my tear reflex kicking into action and I blub along with them
