Maggie Dana
In another thread I mentioned I'd written an article about book design and readability, and several people asked for a link. The article appeared today, here: http://howpublishingreallyworks.blogspot.com/
chesilbeach
Thanks for the link, Maggie. A very interesting article, and I'd never come across that blog before but it looks like one I'll definitely be visiting again as I'm fascinated by the behind the scenes publishing process. Chimera
Very interesting Maggie! I've got to admit book design isn't something I've ever paid much attention to... unless to complain about a too small font... But I'll look more closely from now on. Actually, now I think of it I did experience this recently... I was reading a book which had a very unusual design: the page n
Maggie Dana
Chimera ... your example is something that can drive readers wild, but they might not always know why. I just heard from the blogger that today's BookSeller has linked to the article on their front page, here: http://www.thebookseller.com/ It's really driving up the traffic to her site, too! Talisman
I bet it is. I would kill to get a link from them ! The closest I ever get is when I post comments - the chief buyer from Amazon subscribed to my blog for a while on the strength of some I made for a while, keeping an eye on what I wrote about his company ! I know Jane by the way through another forum that I also post on. I have a different login name there though. Maggie Dana
I bet it is. I would kill to get a link from them ! I hate to admit this, but I'm not really familiar with the BookSeller's reputation because even though I'm English, I live in the U.S. where the industry's main magazine is Publishers' Weekly, or PW. I'm assuming that the BookSeller is the equivalent in the UK. I'll be flying over on June 1st to help promote my novel and to meet my editor and his team for the first time. If I see a copy of the BookSeller, I'll pick one up. How often is it published?
Talisman
Every week - it's not cheap (which is why I read it online) at around
