Okay my 14 year old daughter (Hannah) has never been much of a reader, I can't remember her ever finishing a book! But just over a week ago she picked up my copy of Ps I Love You (Cecelia Aherne I think :)) and loved it - she read every night and all day Sunday. Now she has aked me to find similar type books to read, this is where you guys come in. Anyone any suggestions? Most of my TBR are crime/thriller and she doesn't want to read those. :D

Anything by Cecelia Ahern would be good. I'm a fan of her books, particularly Where Rainbows End and A Place Like Home. Or Mike Gayle's books are quite good - Dinner for Two and Mr Commitment. They all have a chick-lit kind of feel.

Maybe she would be one of the girls who loves Twillight?

I also love PS I love you, bur the other Cecelia Ahern books are not as good as the first...

I've read a fair bit of specifically young adult fiction over the last few years. Some of the ones that stood out for me were:

Hearts of Stone - Katherine Ernst

The Black Tattoo - Sam Enthoven

Vampire Beach series - Alex Duval

The Medici Seal - Theresa Breslin

Ithaka - Adele Geras

Captives - Tom Pow

My 13 nearly 14 year old also rarely reads but 'The Gossip Girl' series have had her glued recently and Louise Rennison books too. There are also 3 books by Grace Dent which went down well and that's about it!! I will look them up after tea :D

How about Waves by Sharon Dogar? It's a very good book, and can make you feel like you want to cry when Hal finds it hard that his sister's in a coma.

Sorry Madcow, not much help here myself as I can't remember what I read that long ago! Hope her interest picks up soon though as she really doesn't realize what's she missing out on.
