In search of a book... (ScFi)

Greetings, people...

 

I've been looking for this one particular book for some time now, and.. well, since I'm here writing this, means I wasn't too lucky finding it.

 

SO... with that in mind.. I'll ask you if you might know what book is it.. all I can remember from it.. is a little part.. something 'bout ..people that start finding some little black round objects, pebbles-like.. and when they would take it in hand, some light buzzing sound was heard.. and the little crack appeared in the object, and something like a 'needle' would appear and quickly sting the person.. and the 'black pebble-like' thing would close in an instance. ...afterward.. the people started to act like they were hypnotized.. etc. etc. and all would wake up in the night.. and start gathering ...(the stinged-ones) ..etc. ...(they even built some 'alien-like' stuff later in the book.. to communicate or something...) .. I guess, if you've read the book, you'll know what I'm talking about..

 

..so, PLEASE.. tell me if you know what I'm blabbing about..
