blueberry_pie Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) Hey everyone! I am new here and the main reason I joined this book forum (besides the love for the books) is, because I need your recommendations. Recently I became a HUGE fan of Douglas Kennedy. I already have all his books and actually I am reading the last one - the Woman in the Fifth. Since not all of his books are translated in my language, which is Bulgarian, I read them in English. I must admit that I am more than happy about that. My most favorite one is The Pursuit of the Happiness. So I will be really both grateful and happy, if you recommend me books that I might like. P.S. I'm going to Brussels next week and will hit the books stores with your recommendations. Edited September 7, 2008 by blueberry_pie Quote
happyanddandy Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Hello - I have read most of Douglas Kennedy's books and have really enjoyed them - State of the Union' and 'The Pursuit of Happiness' are the best - I have 'Woman in the Fifth' on Mount TBR Quote
Kylie Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Hi Blueberry and to the forum! I can't help with recommendations unfortunately but I'm sure someone else can! Quote
Janet Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 So I will be really both grateful and happy, if you recommend me books that I might like. Hello and welcome to the forum. I've only read one Douglas Kennedy so far. My Mum's a fan of his though and she also likes Rosie Thomas and Nicholas Evans, so they may be worth looking at? Hope you have a nice time in Belgium. blueberry_pie Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 You are way too sweet. I couldn't hope for a better welcome party Thank you all, and will try not to bore you with dull questions. I'll do my best to get well grounded in this forum. blueberry_pie Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 (edited) OK, this is embarrassing, but I really find difficult to figure this forum's structure out. I don't know how to reply to visitors' messages. Any help is welcome. 'The Pursuit of Happiness' is really the book that grab my soul, my heart... it really moved me emotionally, something that I haven't felt because of a book last years. That's why I'm looking for other books like this one. Actually, after I dig a little in this forum and had read some of other people's reviews, I decided to buy some books of Maggie O'Farrell, Jonathan Coe and also Nicholas Evans.
