Kate Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I think The Great Gatsby would be a good one to start with Quote
HZTB Posted July 6, 2008 Author Posted July 6, 2008 Thanks, although I've already read it, it's in my list. Quote
nursenblack Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I suggest you add To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It is definitely one of the greatest American novels and is not to be missed. It's one of my top favorites. You won't be disappointed! Quote
Kell Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Well, from the ones you haven't yet read, I'd go with either The Remains of the Day, Kazuo Ishiguro or Moby-Dick, Melville. Quote
HZTB Posted July 6, 2008 Author Posted July 6, 2008 Thank you nursenblack, I'll make sure to read it Quote
Freewheeling Andy Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I would say Heart of Darkness. I'm still undecided years after reading it, whether I really enjoyed it, or really didn't. But given the kinds of stuff you like, I'd think you'd find it interesting and worthwhile precisely because it's that kind of book. A propos playing with conventions - if you've not read Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell or A Debt To Pleasure by John Lanchester, they may well be up your street. Quote
