Hello, can anybody advise me on which one of these to buy? I'm often coming into contact with words that I've never heard of and at the moment I write them down on a sheet of paper to look up at a later date. This detracts from my reading enjoyment because I miss out on the complete description intended by the author. I'm looking for something with a comprehensive database of words and a long battery life, thanks.

I usually use dictionary.com for English when I'm at the computer. It's pretty brilliant.

Yup, I use dictionary.com too - it's an invaluable resource. Every time someone at work is hunting for a dictionary or thesaurus, I'm always there 10 times quicker with the website!

Is this to use when you are near a pc or when you are out and about? You could always get a phone that lets you surf the web wherever you are like an iphone. Or are you looking for some kind of gadget like one of those little crossword helper thingummies about the size of a small calculator?

Sorry about the confusion, I mean a little thingamabob for when I'm away from my computer.

I've never used one so I can't recommend buy how about something like this it uses harper collins database and has full definitions. With any dictionary it's the name that supplies the words and definitions that counts, along with the number of words in the database, so I would go for Oxford, or Collins or something.

Your best bet is probably typing electronic dictionary into amazon and you'll hopefully get a tonne of options and some customer reviews.

Good luck
