The Library Nook Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 I haven't read a lot of those either but some are on my list to read anyway! Quote
Blossom Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 I haven't read any of them, either, but at least I've heard of them! Kerri Quote
Renniemist Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 I have read On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan, and I have A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini on my shelf, but I quite like the sound of some of the others. Quote
Freewheeling Andy Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Long Way Down was terrible self indulgent TV, and I doubt the book's better. Ian McEwan was always a bit dull, and has been getting worse as time has gone on. Given the descriptions of On Chesil Beach, I fear it will be even worse than Atonement. JK Rowling is, well, very rich. So perhaps that's an outstanding achievement. Not much literary quality there, though. Russel Brand is one of the most self-important, unamusing tools I've ever had the misfortune to hear or watch, and I can't imagine his book (particularly with that astonishingly goonish name) is any better. It's a pretty ropey looking list, or a very, very bad year for books. Quote
Davo Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I know! Jordan didn't win anything! What a disaster Quote
