Izakula Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Hi everyone, I recently came across a lot of buzz around the book Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart, which seems to be very popular in Scotland right now. For those of you who have read it, I was wondering—how do you think the portrayal of family dynamics and the impact of addiction in the book reflects life in Scotland, especially in the 1980s? Do you feel it accurately captures the struggles faced by working-class families during that time? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Quote
lunababymoonchild Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 I haven't read the book so can't answer but if I may suggest : please correct the title of the thread to Shuggie (you have Snuggie, I'm sure that it's a typo but it would be slightly less confusing if you corrected it) Thanks Welcome to the Forum! Hux Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 (edited) I think I reviewed it in January. Gave 7/10. Enjoyable to read for the most part but flawed. Edited October 15, 2024 by Hux Quote
