I'm starting off the year with Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I started it about two weeks ago, but haven't been able to progress very far. It's still entertaining, though. It's just not...compelling. I'm going to stick with it for a while longer.

The next book on my list will be The Books of Lost Things by John Connolly. I've read a lot of really good reviews for it, mostly here on BCF. I read the first few pages, and it seems really well-written, and the plot intrigues me.:friends0:

So, here's my list for intended reads for January:

The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

Paris Tales by Helen Constantine

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

Tao te Ching by Lao Tzu

The Celtic Book of Living and Dying by Juliette Wood

This list ought to keep me busy for a while!

Both of these made my top ten last year!

I re-read The Devil Wears Prada this past week, and it was actually better the second time around! I was considering buying Lauren Weisberger's second book, but I read some reviews and they were really, really bad.

Now I'm going to focus on Sense and Sensibility, because I really feel the need for some Jane Austen therapy.:welcome:

I actually think The Devil Wears Prada is a brilliant book! And it's so much better than the movie. I've been planning to get hold of that second book, as my friend has it, so I might check it out. Usually in cases like this the secnd one is bad, as it's just a desperate attempt to repeat what worked in the first one. Just like in movies (like, Ocean's 11 was brilliant, O12 was boring, and then they made it work again with a different angle in O13).

I finished Sense and Sensibility this morning, so I'm going to start on The Book of Lost Things later on today.
