Echo Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I'm starting off the year with Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I started it about two weeks ago, but haven't been able to progress very far. It's still entertaining, though. It's just not...compelling. I'm going to stick with it for a while longer. The next book on my list will be The Books of Lost Things by John Connolly. I've read a lot of really good reviews for it, mostly here on BCF. I read the first few pages, and it seems really well-written, and the plot intrigues me. Quote

Echo Posted January 19, 2008 Author Posted January 19, 2008 I re-read The Devil Wears Prada this past week, and it was actually better the second time around! I was considering buying Lauren Weisberger's second book, but I read some reviews and they were really, really bad. Now I'm going to focus on Sense and Sensibility, because I really feel the need for some Jane Austen therapy. Quote
Guest ii Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 I re-read The Devil Wears Prada this past week, and it was actually better the second time around! I was considering buying Lauren Weisberger's second book, but I read some reviews and they were really, really bad. I actually think The Devil Wears Prada is a brilliant book! And it's so much better than the movie. I've been planning to get hold of that second book, as my friend has it, so I might check it out. Usually in cases like this the secnd one is bad, as it's just a desperate attempt to repeat what worked in the first one. Just like in movies (like, Ocean's 11 was brilliant, O12 was boring, and then they made it work again with a different angle in O13). Quote
Echo Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 I finished Sense and Sensibility this morning, so I'm going to start on The Book of Lost Things later on today. Quote
