The Walking Stick - Winston Graham

I have an ancient copy of " The Walking Stick" by Winston Graham.

 

The first page is ripped in half!

 

Does someone have Page 1 and 2 typed out?

 

It starts "The man had been ..." and ends with "The Minister of Health...."

 

Can anyone help please!
