iKloudz
I read a book quite a while ago and I can't for the life of me recall its title. I can remember that it was a romance book about a deaf boy and a girl who were in either a college or university. I also remember some scenes. When the girl goes into her first lecture, she notices the boy sitting in the back but he isn't taking notes. Later on in the book, after she finds out he's deaf, he tells her that he lip reads and he then puts everything he can remember into his laptop after class. In another scene, they go to the library together and she sits in the seat at the back, which overlooks the library and the boy wants to sit there but gives up and doesn't. Shortly after the fire alarm goes off and when the girl hears it, she wonders why the boy isn't moving, until she finds out he's deaf and he tells her that he wanted to sit in the seat she sat in because he could've seen the fire alarm lighting up. But instead, he has his back to it and doesn't hear it until the girl points it out. The only other thing I can recall is that he is reluctant to get hearing aids but eventually, he does get one by the end and has some hearing returned. Please let me know if you find something like this? I've been looking for it everywhere and I can't find it. Thanks.
Athena
The only book I've read that involves a deaf boy and is a bit like what you described, is A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard. But they aren't in college or university, they are in high school. But the scenes do sound a bit familiar. It's about a mute girl and a deaf boy and there is romance. The book was released though in 2017, so it's probably not what you're looking for. But it's the only one I can remember right now that features a deaf boy. Maybe someone else can help. Or you could try searching GoodReads or Google for books with deaf characters (or something like that).
