Freewheeling Andy
Ah. The same as me, then. I read Kafka ages ago and have only just started looking at it in the light that someone (is it Murukami?) mentions; that it's like reading Jeeves and Wooster, but without the Jeeves character to fix things. Kylie
It's certainly an unusual (but enjoyable!) read. I was just thinking this morning that I'd like to watch the movie again. Quite well done, I thought, considering the story - but then I might be biased because I think Orson Welles is brilliant. Have either of you seen it? Kenny_Shovel
I think there are at least two film versions, but I've not seen any of them.
Kenny_Shovel
Satan in Goray by Isaac Singer seems to have leapfrogged The Trial somehow. So far, so interesting...
Kenny_Shovel
Just finished: Satan in Goray by Isaac Bashevis Singer. The jewish inhabitants of a small Polish town in the 17th century turn to a false prophet and unleash hell on earth. Reminded me of the old Ken Russell film "The Devils". Next up: One of three. Either The Trial, The Complete Poems of Anna Akhmatova or Fred: Portrait of a Fast Bowler by John Arlott. I'll probably end up reading a fourth option instead...
