Sazza
Welcome Sazza! I have read only a couple of those....how did you enjoy Death Comes To Pemberley? I actually really enjoyed it I'm a huge Jane Austen fan so was slightly warey about reading it. I felt that it was a good carry on to Darcy and Elizabeth's story. What did you make of it? Sazza
Did you like A Thousand Splendid Suns? I liked And the Mountains Echoed and Kite Runner, but struggled with Splendid Suns. Welcome, I hope you like it here I read And the Mountains Echoed last year but like you I struggled with Splendid Suns. It just didn't seem to have the flow of the others. I admit I paused midway and read another book in the middle just to give myself a break.
Athena
Oooh a new reading log! What did you think of Jemima J by Jane Green? I've read The Patchwork Marriage by the same author and really liked that one. Happy reading the rest of this year !

vodkafan
I actually really enjoyed it I'm a huge Jane Austen fan so was slightly warey about reading it. I felt that it was a good carry on to Darcy and Elizabeth's story. What did you make of it? it was good to see the characters again but by the end of the book I was unsatisfied. The cards were always stacked against Wickham because of his birth it seemed- that was one gripe- and also Elizabeth didn't actually DO anything. It's as if her life and spirit as a free agent and person was over as soon as she got married. She just spent time holding candlesticks and waiting for Darcy to come back from various important things.

Have you watched the TV adaption of it?

frankie
That's good to hear ! (I think it's partly because it's about an overweight woman and I could and still can relate to her )

I looked it up, because I too can relate to being overweight - in my case significantly - but wow, the number of 1 star reviews do not do it any favours. They seem to all be from offended fat people, so they might not be true, but..... they're pretty condemning reviews.

Sazza
Ok well my attempt at reading The Night Manager by John Le Carré is being discarded. I just cannot get into it at all. Now to decide what's next!!
