chaliepud
I can't believe a year has past since I last did this! As is normal I am keeping my blog nice and simple (like me! ) with my TBR list and books read. Also as always, my plan is to buy fewer books and to get my TBR pile down, there are around 137 on there now which is higher than it has ever been and it would take me close to three years to read them without adding to the list! I will keep up the Book Box although I rarely use it as my mood generally dictates what I choose to read. The box looks nice on my shelf though!! I am however going to make a concerted effort to read books that have been gifted to me as it seems almost rude to leave them sitting there for so long. I will highlight these on my TBR list I think so I don't forget which ones they are. In more exciting book news we are planning to do some redecorating this year and one of the rooms we do will be the living room, we have two alcoves in arches at one end of the room and we have decided that we will shelve these, so more room for books, and other lovely things too of course. Away from reading I will be continuing with the dog agility with Jojo, along with looking into other ways of improving my fitness, Crossfit appeals and is a choice often made by others that follow the Paleo lifestyle so I will see if I can incorporate that into my life in some way. I have also purchased a second hand iJoy fitness machine, a kind of horseriding simulator of sorts, so I'm hoping that will help me tone up a little too! Food wise I am going to try and get back into my usual healthy eating pattern, there have been too many temptations over the Christmas period and my body isn't feeling as good as it does when I am strict about what I eat. It will be easier once the kids are back to school and we have a routine. I have just bought an Instant Pot which is a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, soup maker, it even makes yogurt! Not that I'll be doing that as I'm not a fan. Happy New Year everyone!! May it bring you health, happiness and lots of reading time!! Edited December 30, 2015 by chaliepud

Michelle
So jealous of the alcoves - that will look great! 11.22.63 - Stephen King - loved this, although I had the audio version. Among Others - Jo Walton - quite a slow book, but I did enjoy it. Fractured - Teri Terry - I thought this was a good ending to the trilogy.. in fact I enjoyed all 3. More Than This - Patrick Ness - Really liked this one.. will be looking out for your thoughts. Only Ever Yours - Louise O'Neill - Both of hers made my top 15 of 2015! The Ice Twins - S.K Tremayne - a good thriller! The Stand - Stephen King - am working my way through the graphic novel version. Birdy - William Wharton - recently spotted and added to my wishlist. I will be sure to post before and after photos when they are done, could be a while and we need to have some work done before we can start and I still need to sort quotes etc etc! I have Slated and Fractured by Teri Terry which I believe to be the first two of the trilogy, I must get around to starting them soon! Too many books! What a problem to have! I definitely want to get to Only Ever Yours very soon, the synopsis is chilling! I really need to get around to a Stephen King this year, he is my Dad's favourite author and he keeps asking if I've read another yet. I read Under The Dome last year (2014) but found it a little laborious, but I was on holiday at the time so maybe not ideal.
Kylie
Happy reading in 2016, Chalie! We have quite a few TBR books in common, so I'll be following your log with interest. Can't wait to see pics of the alcoves once they're done. I'd love to have something like that!

frankie
Also as always, my plan is to buy fewer books and to get my TBR pile down, there are around 137 on there now which is higher than it has ever been and it would take me close to three years to read them without adding to the list! I'll cheer you on, as we have the very same goal I will keep up the Book Box although I rarely use it as my mood generally dictates what I choose to read. The box looks nice on my shelf though!! That reason alone is enough to keep one's Book Box Nah, seriously, you've been having a lot of fun with it and I look forward to hearing what the BB produces next I am however going to make a concerted effort to read books that have been gifted to me as it seems almost rude to leave them sitting there for so long. I will highlight these on my TBR list I think so I don't forget which ones they are. This, very much THIS!! I know exactly what you mean and I know exactly how you feel. It seems rude, but in my defence, the people who send me books as presents know me so very well that they know exactly what type of books I like and want, and this might sound weird to some, but it's like with candy: I'm one of those people who likes to eat the not-so-great-ones first, in order to save the best for last. With books: for years now I've thought that I'd like to read the ones I own that I might like, yes, but not as much as to want to hold on to the copy. Books I've bought from secondhand bookshops or library removed books sales. This is also to make my bookshelves look nicer. This is all planned in order to have the most precious books for last, and these include the ones that I've been gifted with. And sure, by now I've realized that I'll keep on buying other books in the meantime and this way I will never get to the books I've been most looking forward to reading. It's sooo stoopid! So in one of my posts, I organized my TBR according to different genres I'd like to read throughout the year and one of the 'genres' or themes, I should say, were gift books. I know you highlighted yours. Great minds think alike To Be Read - currently 138 Cannery Row - John Steinbeck My Cousin Rachel - Daphne Du Maurier Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck The Stand - Stephen King These are all really great in their different ways! I really hope you enjoy them The Rabbit Back Literature Society - Pasi Ilmari Jaaskelainen I won't say anything, I'm just doing a happy little dance! What Alice Forgot - Liane Moriarty I just discovered this author this year, and I want to read all her books that I haven't yet read, WAF being one of them. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it when you get to it! There were quite a few other titles too on your TBR that are on my TBR or wishlist and so I'll be keeping a close eye on your book log! Edit: Forgot to say earlier that I love alcoves! I'm so jealous If it's not too much trouble, could you please post before-pics as well as after-pics? bobblybear
I will keep up the Book Box although I rarely use it as my mood generally dictates what I choose to read. My Book Box has been eeevil to me with it's choices, so I've stopped using it. I agree with everyone else - books in alcoves always look lovely!! From your TBR pile: Alone in Berlin - Hans Fallada. I have this one my TBR pile, and on my list of books to read in the next few months. 11.22.63 - Stephen King. This was a pretty good read, but I don't think it's his best - that's reserved for The Stand. I Let You Go - Clare Mackintosh. This one was good; it has the best twist I have ever come across. Only Ever Yours - Louise O'Neill. Disturbing but compelling reading. The Invisible Ones - Stef Penney. Not bad, but doesn't compare to The Tenderness of Wolves, which I loved. The Miniaturist - Jessie Burton. I bought this recently, and hopefully will read it this year. The Stand - Stephen King. My fave book of all time. I hope you have a great reading year in 2016. Thanks Alexi, I've read that 11.22.63 is a bit of a slog to get through with a lot of political detail, did you find that? Which others of his have you read? The Stand is definitely on my 2016 reading radar as it is so highly thought of on here, I hope O agree! My Dad loves SK so I feel a bit pressured to love them too. chaliepud
I do, but he's 11 and hates other dogs! Ha! Maybe not then, I have a grumpy 12 year old too who has never competed due to elbow problems he had as a pup, he really wouldn't have coped well with mixing with lots of other dogs anyway. He is getting more chilled now and for a Cattle Dog he is probably considered laid back! Jojo is much more sociable but I do have to watch her as she won't be told what to do by other dogs. What breed is your boy and what is his name?
Anna Begins
Is that Jojo in your avatar? I love cattle dogs, I love their eyes. I have Luka, a Kerry Blue Terrier. I don't think I would ever have a terrier again! They are crazy! Do you show too, or just agility?

I didn't find that at all! I'm super interested in US history and politics so I might have noticed it less than others I guess, but it's interesting others found that. I hope you do enjoy it when you give it a go It's long, but very readable IMO. I've also read The Shining and Different Seasons. All three are so different but I loved them all.
