Can you tell me what this book series is?

I have been presented with a challenge.

 

An inspector out of Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells, recovering alcoholic, who's wife works for the British Museum. They solve historical mysteries or go after relics. More Thriller than Crime/Detective story.

 

Any ideas?

I think it unlikely but the only thing I can come up with is Dead as a Scone by Ron and Janet Benrey?

 

Chesilbeach is our resident book detective so she may have some ideas.

I can only find the same book as you, Janet, it's the first in a series but it doesn't closely match the description given, so I'm not convinced.  Sorry, can't find anything else.

Fixed ! You can edit the title but only after you've made enough posts, I can't remember how many though.
