Athena Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 My Kindle Paperwhite updated itself a few weeks ago, after I accidentally forgot to turn off the wifi (I normally have it turned off when I read, unless I want to download a new book onto it). I turned on the wifi, download the new book I bought and started to read it, then after a while the Kindle suddenly turned itself off with a bar installing a new update. It seems quite a bit has changed (I don't think I've ever done an update), there are more options and highlighting for example is a lot easier now. I still have to get used to the new position of the highlight option but it seems easier now so I think this update was a good thing . I just wanted to ask, do you often get updates on your e-reader? Mine is 5.4.5.1. I've just looked it up and that's the latest version, so it probably happened automatically (I often just leave the WiFi on). I haven't actually noticed any changes though. Quote

I haven't actually noticed any changes though. It says 5.4.4.2 which Amazon says is the newest version. I don't know what it was before, but it's a first generation Kindle Paperwhite, never updated, and has now updated with features that were introduced with the second Kindle Paperwhite, such as GoodReads. I don't mind though, I was just surprised. Quote
