'The Colombian Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez, who unleashed the worldwide boom in Spanish literature with his novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, has died at the age of 87.'

More here.

What awful news to hear we've lost a great novelist. :(

What matters in life is not what happens to you but what you remember and how you remember it. - Gabriel García Márquez

Rest in peace, Gabriel.

I have to say I've never read his books, I only know of him... But may he rest in peace.

It's really not been a good 1,5 years for authors!

I read 100 Years of Solitude when I was 16, for my spanish class. I immediately fell in love with that book and Marquez style. I read some of his other works, and I really appreciated them, but 100 Years has a special place in my heart and will always have. When I want to hide from reality, Macondo is always there to welcome my mind.

Rest in peace.

But I still have not read 100 years. But as a tribute, I will add that novel to my wishlist at my online bookstore website so I will remember to order it next time I order books.

I have One Hundred Years of Solitude on my shelf, waiting to be read. I've had it for about 10 years, but for some reason I just haven't picked it up. I must get around to reading it soon. :blush2:

I've only read on of his books, the famous 'One Hundred Years of Solitude'. It was enough to admire him for the rest of my life. May he rest in peace.
