How many fictional characters from film and TV (who are NOT playing a nerd or loser or very smart) can you name who wear eyeglasses all the time, not just reading glasses?

Well, off the top of my head I can't think of anyone who are spectacles wearers in films or TV these days - they are only seem to be nerds/losers/unbalanced but very intelligent. It's always the same, I'm afraid, I think that wearing specs (especially if you are female). I wear specs all the time (very short sighted, since my early teens) and it's hardly ever been "cool" to wear them.

Men yes, but not women. You might have worked it out that it bugs me, and that it's always been really annoying that females are hardly ever been fashionable to wear them.

Thinking back to the good old days of black and white films, for me the best spectacle wearer was Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. He was perfect!!

I've worn glasses since I was 10. I am also very short sighted.

But I have seen a spectacles trend in the past 10 years. At least in Sweden. Many young women choose to wear glasses instead of contact lenses. Many still choose contacts for parties, but wear glasses to work/school. And people dress fairly nice going to work/school. Again, at least in Sweden. I cannot speak for other countries.

Media, however, has still not followed the trend.
