Anna Begins Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I had no idea he struggled with heroin. I'm so sad he is gone. Quote
pontalba Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Apparently he had been off it for 23 years. Only last year, he is said to have started again. He was a fantastic, talented actor. He could inhabit a character to the Nth degree. Horrible loss. Quote
KidRoberts Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I feel bad for his family that he left behind because of an idiotic choice. Quote
Eleonora Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 So sad, a gifted actror and a fragile man. Quote
Ruth Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) It's very tragic. He was clean for 23 years, but apparently became addicted to pain medication last year and that led to him taking heroin again last year. Such a wonderfully talented man, by all accounts a very sweet and kind person too. I lost a friend to heroin last year; a funny, generous, warm-hearted person. I refuse to let my memories of him be purely about his bad choices. I hope that Philip Seymour Hoffman's legacy is his wonderful body of work, rather than the way he died.
