Anna Begins Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 The Handmaid's Tale? I'm 100 pages in (its only 320 pages) and I'm just not feeling it. Its on my TBR list for 2014 and I was really looking forward to it. Started Clive Barker's Books of Blood #1 (also on TBR 2014) and am hooked. Could probably read both, but I'd like to know if The Handmaid's Tale is worth finishing. Quote

I think it might be best you leave it for later, and pick it up again when you're feeling you might be into it Edited December 31, 2013 by frankie Quote

nursenblack Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Definitely pick The Handmaid's Tale up again, sometime. I thought it was great, but you're right, sometimes your mood determines the book. Quote
Ruth Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Yeah, sometimes it's a case of the right book at the wrong time. I loved The Handmaid's Tale - I'd put it in my all time top ten books (maybe top five), but I do think you have to be in the mood for it. Quote
pontalba Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I managed The Handmaid's Tale the second time around, several years after the first try. The first time, I abandoned it......can't even remember how far I got. But, I when finally decided to tackle it, I flew right through. Quote
dtrpath27 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I also go where the mood takes me. I really enjoyed The Handmaid's Tale, but maybe it's not for you. I've tried three times to read Winter's Tale, but never make it past the second chapter. Quote
