No work for me again - the River Mole which runs past the foot of the Hill was on a severe flood warning last night and is continuing to rise. The A24 which runs around the foot of the Hill is blocked all the way up to the roundabout on to the A246, which is the road I have to drive along in order to get to work - so I am instead at home enjoying my first Christmas off in 5 years. We managed to get down the ZigZag yesterday to the Burford Bridge Hotel which was under several feet of water - you may have seen it on the news. They were evacuating people from the hotel in boats !

Coran was going to go and see her Mum in Lewisham today but is unable to get there either due to the floods, but at least we have electric, internet and each other, so that's what matters.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I have noticed that peacefield has not been on the forum for a while. ?

I heard on the news last night that a location in Minnesota had a wind chill temperature of -45degrees F. Yes, that is correct, minus 45 degrees F.

Sounds chilly. It has been relatively warm here at around 7 or 8 degrees. At least most of the water seems to have disappeared from the roads around here and the rivers are no longer on flood alert.

All things considered for me it hasn't been a bad year. There have of course been a few challenges, but  always think that you need these anyway in order to learn and grow, that being after all what we are here to do. Well, I think that anyway.

I renewed acquaintances with my sister, read some great books, and also got to see the Northern Lights, which is something I always wanted to do, which can't be bad.

Muggle Not, I think Peacefield has just been super busy. I noticed that she had made a few comments on Facebook recently, so I assume all is ok .

A minus 45 wind chill is mighty cold. Brrrrrr. :cold:

We lost the internet for 36 hours, but now it is back on for us. It wasn't awful without it but it did alter our routines a little. Funny how things slide into our day so easily and it's only when they are absent that we see it. Locally streams and rivers are swelling, but so long as their tides don't coincide with super heavy rainfall I hope we can remain accessible. Our little village in on a rise, so we are very lucky not to have to worry about domestic flooding.
