julie
Most Famous Book from Every State, : Most Famous Authors from Every State . How many have you read ? I think I may have a crack at both of these Not an impossibly large goal, and it should be interesting . I'm not sure yet what order I'll go in, whether alphabetically by state, or choose one book at a time from one list ,then the other . Need to do a little planning on it, but it should be fun ,and also not a really strict schedule to follow. Lots of books to choose from between the 2 lists and also , no time frame to complete it . In a few cases, there are overlapping authors and states ,so in that case, I'll have to choose a different book for the same author . Lists in posts below for books, then states . julie
Welcome to Alabama ! The book chosen for this state is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee . Harper Lee was also chosen as the most famous author from Alabama , I have read To Kill a Mockingbird ,(twice) , so will consider it completed . Janet
I'm not sure what the above post is meant to be Julie (an image, perhaps?) but it doesn't appear to have worked!
Athena
I think it's meant to be a Javascript chart, it doesn't work here either. Good luck with your challenge, Julie ! I recognise some authors and titles, there are some good books in there . Edited November 17, 2013 by Athena
BSchultz19
I've read 6 of these books. I really like this list. It has an American Literature take on the "around the world" type challenges. I might have to steal this list
julie
Hi Janet Sorry, I was trying to post a map ,but apparently it didn't work, so I was trying to put together a better looking post . Just thought I'd add a bit of trivia about each state to make it more interesting . Athena Thank you for the good luck wishes I think a lot of the books will be good , I've read several before ,but will try doing re-reads of them . Some of the authors will be new to me, so that should be interesting !
julie
Hi B -- You're more than welcome to use the list. I don't mind a bit ! Looks like a lot of good reading, doesn't it ? I've read 20 of the state books, but will do re-reads to make it a complete challenge. Some of them I read so many years ago, I need a refresher ,I think ! poppyshake
Good luck Julie and anyone else who does the challenge .. it's one I am definitely interested in too I've read ten so a long way to go I was surprised that Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe wasn't on the list .. until I saw what its competition was
julie
Hi Kreader You have a good start already ! You're welcome to jump in if you'd like to . Kay Yep, there are so many , especially from the southern states that I think would qualify ,to give these a run for their money . Fried Green Tomatoes was a really good book . I guess everyone would probably be able to pick others that they would have chosen if they were to make the list . It'd be hard for me to choose . I'll just stick with the ones they picked and hope they are all good !
