Has anyone been watching this? I think it's brilliant, but I was a huge fan of Prisoner Cell Block H which it's a remake/re-imagining of.

My wife had the exact opposite reaction to this than you did, Andrea! Like you she was a massive Cell Block H fan. She met most of the cast when they came over here when it was first popular. She had them all taped when they re-showed them on Channel 5 in the 90's (and woe betide me if I forgot to set the timer on the video!). It also turned her into a complete Aussie-phile.

 

But when she heard about this remake, she was unimpressed, and only managed to watch about 5 minutes of it. I was surprised - I thought she would be all over it!

I can understand that as they have changed things quite considerably and updated it for a modern audience. The old characters are all there, but much younger versions of them and they are similar but different in some ways to the originals. I think it's awesome though, it's a shame your wife doesn't like it. That's so cool though, that she met the cast!

 

I haven't caught the last episode of series 1 yet. Hoping to watch it tonight!

I've loved watching this.  I kind of remember the original but not enough to recognise the characters.  This time around I've been eagerly anticipating a new episode each week.

Yea me too Kat. It's so compulsive. I think they've done a great job updating it. I'd love to watch the original again - I'm tempted to get it on DVD 

 

But as for the new one, I can't wait for the next series.

Just read that Season 2 will air on Channel 5 (UK) in 2014.  I wasn't sure if we were going to get the second season as TV channels have a habit of cancelling series if they aren't popular enough.  No set date yet but at lease we know it's coming!
