geordie9 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Looking for some good recommendations. Nuclear war, virus, oil/food wars, zombies (although ive read most of them), etc. Ive read The Stand, Justin Cronins Passage & The Twelve. I want to read Robert Mcammons Swan Song, any one here read it and is it worth buying? Any help would be appreciated. Quote
chesilbeach Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 These threads on dystopian novels and help needed with dystopian titles might help Quote
Michelle Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Thanks Claire, I was having trouble finding them. I think those threads should also be in this section, but I don't want to move them and affect the links. Quote

saskatoonauthor Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 It's an old book but probably the best I've ever read: War Day by Whitley Strieber and James Kunteka: http://www.amazon.com/Warday-Whitley-Strieber/dp/0446326305/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380888564&sr=8-1&keywords=warday Quote
Athena Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I'm going to recommend Jam by Yahtzee Croshaw. In this book, the world is suddenly covered in many layers of jam. It's written in a funny note, so if you're in the mood for something serious this might not be your thing. But I think when you're in the mood for it, it's a great book, in my opinion. Quote
bobblybear Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Swan Song is quite good, but I kept comparing to The Stand as a lot of plot points were similar. Still worth a read though. Quote
