pontalba Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 I missed talking to you too Eleonora. Relaxing helps everything...reading stops the mind from spinning.
pontalba Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) I've begun All Souls by Javier Marias. Great. Edited September 30, 2013 by pontalba
Athena Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) Eleonora, nice to see you again ! I hope you find something nicer to read soon. I've read a bit more in Stephen King - IT and so far it's really good , just how I remember the story to be (I've read it several times when I was younger, but it's been a while since I read it. I also haven't read it in English before). Edited September 30, 2013 by Athena
bobblybear Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Glad you are enjoying IT. It's probably my second favorite book of his, after The Stand.
Athena Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I'm glad to hear it . I might have to read The Stand as the next Stephen King read then, when I feel like horror again, but it'll depend on which synopsis speaks to me most at the time etc.
chesilbeach Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 I've started Valentine Grey by Sandi Toksvig and I'm about half way through so far, and it's pretty good.
Athena Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 That's great to hear, Chesilbeach! I only know her from seeing her on the British TV (QI), wonder what she's like as an author.
Janet Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I read her children's book Hitler's Canary a few years ago and found it very enjoyable.
Sofia Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Awesome, you're the second member of ours reading Joe Hill's NOS4R2. I'd really like to hear from either you or Sofia on how that's going.. I really want to try out a Joe Hill book, maybe Heart-Shaped Box, Horns or even NOS4R2 but i'm not sure which of his is the best to start with. NOS4R2 is going ok so far; seems a bit too long, but I also have a couple hundred pages left. I've read Heart-Shaped Box, and while it wasn't a favorite of mine, I didn't completely hate it. I also have 20th Century Ghosts, but haven't read it yet; that might be a good place to start, it's a collection of short stories, not too much investment
