rekha333 Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 (edited) who is your Favorite comic writer? Edited July 25, 2013 by rekha333 Quote
ian Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 As may be inferred from my profile picture, Douglas Adams! The man was a genius. Quote
chesilbeach Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 who is your Favorite comic writer? Do you mean comic as in humorous, or comic as in comic book writer? Perhaps you could also tell us who your favourites are, and why you like them? Quote
Athena Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 In terms of comedic writing, it has to be Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett for me. In terms of comics, I haven't read much of them (I've read mainly kids' ones, and Donald Duck). They aren't as available here as in for example an American comic shop. Would love to try certain comics some day, though I prefer books (novels). Quote
Vimes Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 (edited) Well of course Terry Pratchett (the Discworld books are an, if in doubt read, for me) and Piers Anthony, be wrote the Xanth books which are side slittingly funny :-) Edited July 25, 2013 by Vimes Quote
skribe Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I no longer have a favourite humourous writer. I used love Adams but his humour has aged poorly and I no longer find it funny. I've never liked Pratchett or Anthony. Apart from Elton are there any others of note that I could try? For picture book style comic writer, that's easy: Alan Moore. Quote
chesilbeach Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Jasper Fforde is by far my favourite humorous writer. The Thursday Next series are the funniest, but the Nursery Crimes are great too. Quote
