I think it depends what your reading. Agree the percentage bar does push you on. However really had to push through. Read some shockers recently :) lol

I haven't read on a Kindle before, but I used to read a fair bit on my computer and found that I always read much faster. I could never work out why, but I'm certain it wasn't related to font size, and there was no percentage bar to speak of (although I guess I used the vertical scroll bar to track my progress). I've been reading on my iPad a bit lately, and I haven't really noticed if I read faster.

I haven't read on a Kindle either - but find it impossible to read anything of substantial length on the computer.

My eyes glaze over the screen

I've not read on an e-reader but I feel the same way, I can't read anything on the computer for too long. I seem to be ok with using websites or programs (so long as it's not in long periods of the same thing), but reading an ebook (I've bought a few) somehow doesn't appeal that much to me, I much prefer to read a physical book.

well since I started this thread I've noticed I'm flying through books on my kindle. I'm on my third book already since just after Xmas & will probs finish that this weekend. That's quick for me. Normally takes me roughly 2 weeks a book with paperback. Maybe I'm just reading more as I love my new toy I'm not sure though. There might be some truth in it.

Yay for ereader converts! Glad to see you like your new Kindle, Star, you sound as though you've had exactly the same experience as me - ardently against them until I got my own, then found it so convenient, can't bear to be without mine now :D

You wouldn't have that problem with an e-reader, as they're not backlit like computer screens - which is what causes eye fatigue, for me at least.

I think I do read a bit faster. I think it's the fact that you can change the font size so it feels like you're reading less and you can't always clearly see the page numbers.
