karen.d
I didn't do particularly well with my book challenges last year, but I'm determined to beat the number of books I read last year which was 25 (and a half, as I'm still reading 'The Stand' by Stephen King). karen.d
Not sure if any of the Moderators are looking at this but if they are, could you tell me how to delete the third and last post on this please? I tried to edit my book list to include my ratings and somehow I've ended up with separate posts thanks!
Ooshie
I have read The Stand quite a few times, and have enjoyed it just as much every time. Hope you like it, karen
Kidsmum
Hi Karen, That's a lot of Stephen King books you have on your list. I tried to edit my book list to include my ratings and somehow I've ended up with separate posts thanks! Hi Karen, There should be a 'delete' button at the bottom of your posts (next to 'Edit', 'Quote' etc). I would delete it for you, but I'm worried that I would delete the wrong posts. Thanks anyway.
karen.d
I have read The Stand quite a few times, and have enjoyed it just as much every time. Hope you like it, karen I'm really enjoying this so far. It also makes me cross with Justin Cronin, because his novel 'The Passage' so far, is very similar to 'The Stand'. I know other books influence writers, but this is just lazy writing on the part of Justin Cronin in my opinion. Hi Karen, That's a lot of Stephen King books you have on your list. Although i don't read any of his stuff anymore i did enjoy his earlier books & i did like The Stand. Good luck with your book challenges this year Yes that is a lot of Stephen King books to get through, not sure how long it's going to take! I have been a fan of Stephen King novels since I was in my teens and thought I had read most of them, but obviously not! I'm feeling very nostalgic at the moment, so that's why I have reverted back to King's novels I think. Lots of Stephen King books there, Karen! Excellent! I love The Stand; it's probably my most read book. I really hope you enjoy it. Well that's encouraging, as this is a very long book! It seems to be worth the effort so far. Good luck in 2013 Karen hope you have your best reading year yet. Thanks Poppy, the same to you Hi Karen, good luck for 2013 That's a load of Stephen King to get through. Thanks Brian! I hope 2013 brings great reads to us all

karen.d
I vowed never to read another SK book but maybe you can make me change my mind...... Why have you an aversion to Stephen King novels? Edited January 2, 2013 by karen.d
vodkafan
Why have you an aversion to Stephen King novels? Ah that's complicated...or maybe not. I just don't really rate his style of writing . Too much extra waffle and padding. That's based on only 2 1/2 books though.
karen.d
Ah that's complicated...or maybe not. I just don't really rate his style of writing . Too much extra waffle and padding. That's based on only 2 1/2 books though. Ah ok, I'm finding with 'The Stand' that King is able to convey a lot of information, without waffling or leaving me feeling bogged down by the story, which is the opposite to how I felt when I read 'The Passage'. I know it's probably bad of me to compare the two novels, but I feel that there are so many similarities between them, that it's hard not to. May be you should give King's novels another try. karen.d
Bit late catching up, but happy reading in 2013, Karen! Thanks! Happy Reading to you too So we are nearing the end of the first reading week of 2013 and I'm still reading enjoying 'The Stand' by Stephen King. So much so that I think this would look fantastic as a film. I know that this book has been turned into mini series, but a film production of this wuld look epic. Although come a film company afford to do this book justice I wonder.....
