Fantasy/SoL book?

So, I've been asking this on several different forums: Do you know a good book set in a fantasy world, but without epic battles and heroes and just plain day-to-day happenings with a common protagonist?

 

And another one I'm looking for: Ice age post-apocalyptic book? Or something similar, as long as it's freezing cold with a lot of snow.
