Chrissy
Where is the library? It does look lovely.
MisterBus
Sorry that posted itself before I'd finished and I'm not sure how to go back and edit it! The pictures show the public library at Boot Mill in Eskdale, Cumbria. The restored mill is also home to perhaps the smallest but nicest public library in the UK, serving the 200 or so local residents and the nearby campsite. Anyone know of any other curious UK libraries?
Janet
I think the nicest library I've ever seen is in Swansea - it's a gorgeous library inside, and it has fabulous views of the Bristol Channel! These pics don't do it justice, but here's the view... Cardiff's library is lovely too... And from the outside it's hard to beat Stratford-upon-Avon's... And Bristol Central library is lovely too... MisterBus
Yes, Stratford's looks particularly nice. I wonder if books appear better written if you're reading them in a nice location!
chesilbeach
And Bristol Central library is lovely too... I'm pretty sure that they used the Reading Room as one of the locations in the recent series of Dirk Gently on the BBC - you can see a picture of it here on Wikipedia in the page for the architect, Charles Holden --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Holden
