Well I think any of the Scandinavian thrillers are great. I particularly enjoyed the recent Nesbo one. Also found a few new similar writers on Amazon - Axel Aberg's "Stockholm Sin" is a great holiday read. I think he's due another one soon.
And Michael Dibdin's police thrillers are fine writing.
Anyone tried Axel Aberg's thrillers on Amazon ?

I found this guy's thrillers in eBook format on Amazon, and I just finished his latest "Another Grassy Knoll". This one is a shorter than the others, but I think it's a great read - basically a conspiracy theory plot based on the crash of the Hindenburg zeppelin. I got it free as a promo earlier this week and finished it in two days - perfect for a long flight. I guess the price will go up though. Also loved his earlier one "Stockholm Sin" which had the same investigator. Anyone else try him? I'm buying "Cortona Crime" tonight.
