  1. Back to watching Breaking Bad again.
  2. I have this on my TBR pile, but I guess I'll be reading it when the book jar lets me.
  3. I can remember struggling with The Drowned World and Super-Cannes and giving up on both, but I think that was many years ago. He's an author that's pretty highly regarded, so I always keep him on my watchlist, as I want to know what the appeal is. I have The Atrocity Exhibition in my book jar so whenever the times comes, I'll be giving that a go. But if I don't get on with that one, then I may have to give up. Thanks, Claire. Yes, it took me a while, and my handwriting is pretty appalling anyway, but towards the end, it was dire. Thanks, Kylie!
  4. Yep, it took a fair while. I have just over 300 books on my list, so it wasn't much fun writing them out. What is your current read, Alexi? I shall pop to your thread to find out in a sec. Well, the jar picked Empire of the Sun by JG Ballard. It's a re-read, but that was over 20 years ago when I was in high school, so I'm quite happy with the choice.
  5. Thanks, Anna!
  6. Not the best pic, but the Book Jar is complete. As you can see, it's very full! I've just finished Wool, so I shall be picking my first book from the jar tonight. Wish me luck!
  7. Thanks, Claire. I'm sure most of them will be good reads, once I get started on them. It's just that I can't remember why I bought a lot of them - if it was based on recommendation, or an impulse buy.
  8. I think I'm going to make myself a book jar this weekend. I've bought all the necessary bits, but I didn't get enough coloured post-its. I have 305 on my TBR pile but I only bought 200 post-its. Luckily I found some more at home, so I have more than enough. But I have to confess, it makes me a bit nervous. What if I pick a book that I really don't want to read? Obviously I wanted to read it at some point, that is why I bought it, but still.......
  9. I struggled with this one, even though loads of people rave about it. I just didn't get it.
  10. I have The Goldfinch on my TBR pile, and I read Revival last year (and wasn't overly impressed with it).
  11. I can relate to that. I tell myself to just buy it if it's only £0.99 but I still take hours to decide.
  12. April already? I've managed to read a bit more of Wool this morning, before work. It's good so far. I'll probably finish it this weekend.
  13. Nothing right now but tonight we'll watch Back In Time For Dinner. Has anyone been watching this? We watched the first one (1950's) on iPlayer, and need to catch up with the 1960s. It's the 1970s tonight.
  14. It's not even 8.30pm and I'm ready for bed. Sad or what? :-P

  15. If you ever do have a kebab, don't have it on French bread.
  16. Wreckage and The Man In The Window sound very interesting, but like as Claire says, it doesn't look like the latter is readily available here.
  17. When I first started reading it, I assumed they were talking about grain silos, but they must be far larger. I can take several days to get from the top to the bottom, so they must be huge!
  18. I read loads of Wool last night...I didn't want to put it down!
  19. Just bought The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. It's only £1.79 for the Kindle edition (not sure for how long, so snap it up if you're interested, as it's usually over £6). It's received many favourable reviews, so really looking forward to reading this one.
  20. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins is only £1.79 today for the Kindle edition.
  21. So very true! I think having too many books to read comes under the category of "first-world problems".
  22. I don't think I will ever get to the end of it, certainly not if I buy more than I read. Most of them are ebooks, so they don't take up space, and that's probably why I keep acquiring them. At my current reading rate, it will take me about 5-6 years to finish them all.
  23. Thanks, Gaia. I try to relax as much as I can in my free time, but there are so many things that need doing. This should be my last year of studying, but it's still taking so much time to concentrate and keep motivated. I've read 15 books this year, and I have 305 on my TBR pile. Oh my!
