Why did you join The Book Club Forum?
Wanted to join a book club as there's none in my area. Would help me try to focus more on what I was reading so I'd absorb everything instead of thinking about things like lasagna until there's something "exciting" happening.
How did you become a member of the Mod Squad?
the what squad? o.O
What is the most gratifying part of being staff at The Book Club Forum?
they're quite friendly. I've only been here a few days though - but I'm sure I'll get to know them - when my nose isn't stuffed in a book that is.
What makes you happiest about the site?
I'll get to keep track of the books I've read and etc. Be fun to look back when I've read 1,000+ books and laugh when I was only 14 books in LOL.
What is your favourite section of the Book Club Forum and why?
I haven't really browsed around much. Just looked through a few forums like rules, book lists, and young adult books. Lemme edit my answer when I've cruised the whole site =)
We all know you love reading, but what kind of books do you most enjoy and why?
Fantasy. When you're in school you learn to live, you learn about real life - so it's time for entertainment and learn about worlds that aren't real and fantasize about having powers, or creatures around you. Fantasy land is funnnn <3.
Which book do you most often recommend to others and why?
Manhattan Hunt Club by John Saul - When I was younger I kept trying to read, and trying to read. Picked up "famous" and "popular" books all the time and attempted to read but never got into them. This book kept me thoroughly entertained from the beginning and was the first book I had ever read start to finish. Though now I don't remember the end - I do remember the majority of the story and still like it. *scratches head* how did it end?
What other interests do you have and what drew you to them?
I like to play guitar - it's my favourite portion in any song. ( I rarely listen to anything without guitars in it) Lyrics and vocals make a song better - but it all starts with some sort of "tune" =). Graphics - I love making graphics. It passes time quickly and it's neat to make something from 'nothing' thus why I also like to cross-stich, and crochet (I used to like knitting but that took ages and crocheting is faster :x)
Tell us three unusual and interesting things about yourself…
I'm more of a dog person, but I have a cat. This is the only cat I don't "hate" for some reason or another.
I spend so much time in the "fantasy" world (games, books etc.) that when I come back to "earth" I forget what's goin' on and that I can't fly on a broom and cast spells or turn into a wolf and hunt vampires LOL.
I wish we could shut the hydro off for one year and live without 'computers' or 'technology'. Then instead of people blaring the tv, I could spend countless hours reading.

Why do you hate it?
I'm reading The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa, I have a review copy and I love it!
Last year I tried to read it and somehow got annoyed that Bella was too whiny throughout it. But this time around - I'm understanding more. Perhaps cause I'm uninterupted and actually 'catching' everything. I'm changing my opinion about it now - as I'm on page 223? now and there wasn't as much whining as I remembered o.O. I swear before every paragraph had "Edward left me" in it. It's like someone took my book and replaced it with one that didn't have that o.O
So yeah, I'm actually enjoying it now =). A bit too 'romance' for me but hey, chalk one up to guilty pleasure ;p. =)

So, as you'll find the more I post - I'm quite OCD about my reading. I wondered if many others follow me with this - when you stop reading a book, where do you stop? Do you force yourself to complete a chapter? or do you underline the last sentence you read/stop mid-chapter?
I force myself to complete a chapter. I can not stand just stopping midway. I have to judge the alloted time I'm able to read - and read chapter by chapter accordingly. If I for some reason can not complete a chapter I won't continue reading, or if I'm getting too tired - I won't start another chapter (tried it once, and ended up having to read with one eye closed - was so tired I had to squint with the eye I was using to read. Fun times - never again lol.

too me, it's all depends on how long the book is - how 'good' it is, and how much 'rubbish' is in it.
For example: I read the first harry potter book in 2 days, the 2nd in a week, the 3rd in a day and a half. the forth and fifth took a month each, the 6th took a week and then I had a 2 month break and read the 7th in 2 days.
Twilight - took me 3 days (498 pages), Robin Hood took me 3 weeks (300 pages), Red is for Remembrance took me 8 hours (300 pages)
New Moon is 600 pages, and so far it's been 6 days and I'm only 120 pages in. lol.
-
I fell asleep reading Deathly Hallows, and my cat decided to try and sharpen his claws on it. So, I had to re-buy the book lol. and I tend to smoke while I read and had the heater fall off on a page - and burnt through several pages - so I had to re-buy that book as well (a)
-
I have 56 - I just started reading this year =) LOL
-
120 pages into New Moon by Stephenie Meyer - I want to read it to finish it - but I'm quite annoyed by this book - last year I picked it up to try and read it and stopped 200 pages in. So I'm trying to force myself to finish it even though I pretty much hate pages 120-200 (at least) lol.

I've gone totally OCD with my bookmarks. When I read a book - I have a general idea of what it's about. So I buy a bookmark related to this. For the Harry Potter books, I used a half blood prince bookmark. For the series by Laurie Stolarz, I used the same hp bookmark (magic/magic). For Robin Hood, I used a feather for a bookmark (from the dollarstore - tiny worked well), For Twilight, I used a Cullens bookmark, for New Moon - I'm using a Jane Volturi bookmark =). I have a wolf bookmark for "The Site" and a Dragon bookmark for when I get to the Eragon books. And, I continuously buy bookmarks related to the books that I have. Next up - Percy Jackson bookmark lol =)

When I was in grade 5 - we read a book as a class - mind you I was a rebel and didn't pay much attention at the time - and I ended up gettin' suspended and missed a majority of what happened in the book. I'd like to read this book, and see what happened since I missed it the first time. All I remember about the book is the cover and the beginning.
The cover is purple/pink and has a silhoette (possibly) of an indian girl with a spear over looking the ocean/sea. I believe, she was on a raft stranded at sea and landed on an island and had to fend for herself - learn how to survive or something? she may have swam with dolphins or something :/ I've tried googling pics of it but nothin' helped :/ so it's up to you's to find it and I really hopes you do!
-
I'm on New Moon atm - but I've seen all 3 movies - and from a movie stand point, I like Rosalie and Alice. from a book standpoint - as much as I've read there hasn't been much of either of them :/ so I unno - I'll have to repost later when I'm done the series. :/ but...
from the movie stand point - Wolf pack vs. Vampires - I'm team Wolf - they're just so much cooler. for characters - Wolf pack / Paul & Sam | for vampires - Alice and Rosalie <3
-
I loved this series... I know it's bad but I compare everything to HP - even though HP is really in a league of it's own. It's actually the reason I started reading - sadly I haven't crossed another series like it... it's just too... epic
