  1. The mobile's camera made a tiny noise, the sound of an old-fashioned camera shutter and film winder, as pointlessly nostalgic as the psuedo clockwork tick added to some electric watches. It was a tiny noise, far quieter than the purring of the cat, but apparently it reached the old man and enraged him. Or perhaps he had indeed been asleep with his eyes open and was always bad-tempered on waking.

  2. Palming the soap, she peered out of the shattered window at the eighteen-wheeler idling below. The target was very big -an expansive, stationary tarp- and it was less than ten feet from the side of the building. As the traffic lights prepared to change, Sophie took a deep breath and lobbed the bar of soap out into the night.

  3. As the summmer holidays have started I'm going to have to pace myself through the Notes from an exhibition. 3 chapters a day means I will finish it by the end of the week. It's going ok so far, after 3 chapters I didn't expect to be hooked, there has been some time changes which did confuse me a tiny bit as it wasn't clear. I am enjoying it though.

  4. I LOVE second-hand books!

There cheap, usually been well looked after and I love the musty smell from old books.

This may sound a bit stupid but I have a thing about opening a new book. Opening the front cover for the first time drives me crazy just because of how it just stays there and never goes back in the position it bought like again. A second-hand book has been opened hundreds of time and is used to being bent in that position. I hope that makes sense?

  5. I bought 6 books on Sunday last week:

    The return by Victoria Hislop

Notes from an Exhibition by Patrick Gale

    Nineteen Minutes by Jodie Picoult

The importance of being Kennedy by Laurie Graham

    Crosscut by Meg Gardiner

The time of the hunters moon by Victoria Holt

I have read the return (which I enjoyed) and going to start Notes from an exhibition.
