The book is signed 1877 it predates the birth the above John Macdonald by almost 40 years

First off let me say I am very sorry if this is in the wrong section.

My mother was given this book by my grandmother. The story goes that my grandfather bought it a garage sale a number of neils ago. The most crucial peice of information I want to know about this book is the author, John Macdonald.
