  1. I will endeavour to do so next year! I've not read that book, but there are a few by King that I will probably steer clear of. I am waiting to read It at the moment and have Insomnia on the shelf.

I finished The Shining - I thought it was a decent book and an engaging read. I also watched the Kubrick version of the film and was disappointed by the adaptation, but had been told it was that way.

  2. I thought I'd revive this thread - I've read quite a lot of books this year and I cannot begin to remember what ones, quite a few crime fictions and non-fictions, a lot of Stephen King and a few Karen Rose.

At the moment I am reading "The Shining" by Stephen King and I'm really enjoying it. I think the best book I've read by him so far is "The Green Mile" but I also liked Lisey's Story which really stuck with me for a while.

  3. 1. Age: 25-34 (nearly 26)

    2. Gender: Female.

    3. What do you read on a daily basis? Books, magazines and newspapers.

    4. How often do you read for fun in a week? Everyday.

    5. What time of day do you like to read? In the morning when I wake for an hour or two, and usually in the evenings.

    6. Where do you read? Usually in my bedroom, sometimes in the living room.

    7. How many books have you read in the last 6 months? Over 20, under 40, but not sure on numbers.

    8. What type/genre do you enjoy reading most? Horror, Crime, Mystery, True Life/Non Fiction and Romance (in that order).

    9. Why do you read? I find it relaxing and I enjoy being absorbed by a good story.

    10. What barriers prevent you from reading more? I get tired easily and find it hard to concentrate on books after a while, so have to do it in doses.

    11. Do you think reading for fun is important? Absolutely. I am very grateful to my parents for teaching me to read at a very early age, and whilst I had a period during my teens when I didn't read a lot, I find it a very useful pursuit in your spare time to be learning and enriching your life.

    12. Do you fold page corners or use a bookmark? I am a heathen, I fold, sometimes use bookmarks.

    13. Do you prefer to read to music or in silence? Silence.

    14. Do you discuss books with your friends? Not very often - I discuss books with my boyfriend as we are both avid readers, but beyond that my friends don't really spend much time reading the same sorts of books I do.

    15. Do you borrow books from the library? I usually have about four books out at any one time!

    16. Do you borrow/loan books from/to friends? I have done in the past, but sometimes I've never seen them again and sometimes they've come back in such a state!

  4. I have my license but I've not driven for a couple of years now. Last car I had was a Ford Ka 1.1 but for the life of me I cannot remember the year, I think it was either 02 or 03. My ex has it now anyway.

My boyfriend can't drive, so if I go out, I have to walk or get the bus - I love walking despite not being able to do much of it, but in the summer when I was feeling better I was walking 7-8 miles a day!

  5. Is anyone still tuning in? I was really glad to see Red Bull win the Constructors, especially considering they are a new team. I would love Webber to win the Championship, I'm not warm to any of the others (and sad that Jenson is out!).

  6. I finished "I Can See You" last week and whilst I found it quite engaging (in so much that I read the book in two days) I did find it rather predictable - I could guess what would happen from the first five chapters. I did like the use of the method of victim selection and thought some of the psychology was quite interesting, if a bit trite.

I had a look for her other books in the library today but yielded no results - I will continue to look as it was quite a good, light read.

  7. I cannot stand The Da Vinci Code - I have tried three times to read it; not because I like Dan Brown's writing (I really don't) but I felt I should at least give something a shot before I totally wrote it off. I read Angels and Demons for what it was - complete tripe, but it was a page turner in the sense that is was so utterly unbelievable that I just had to finish it.

I started to read the Harry Potter series but as I've mentioned before, I'm not a huge fantasy fan, and I tend to shy away from things that are ridiculously popular (which is not advisable really, as I'm sure to miss out on a lot, but is just the way I am).

Twilight was the biggest pile of crap I have ever read - I read most of the first book and just put it down because I considered it so awfully trite.

  8. I agree with the stance that you shouldn't be embarrassed about books you haven't (yet) read, but I am a bit shame faced at the fact I've not read anything beyond Macbeth by Shakespeare (and that was at school nearly ten years ago). I am also embarrassed about books I have read, and I have read a lot of bad books, but I try to finish anything I start.

I would like to read Lord of the Rings, but I'm not really a fantasy fan, so I think I would struggle through it. My limit at the moment seems to be extended to Stephen King, so maybe I will branch out eventually.

  9. Univerze, bless your heart - Don't be too hard on yourself, you've been through a tough time and I'm thinking of you x

Sorry I've not been around much lately, life has turned upside down (good and bad ways) but the good part is I've lost 23.5lbs this month! A little too much but I've been eating properly and everything, just cut out a lot of sugar and fat.

  10. This is mine - the stars look wonky as I had my arm stretched out, but when it's relaxed it's not so bad, although it wasn't the best job in the world! I wish I'd gone to a couple of tattoo artists before hand.

  11. Weave and Cookie, your tattoos are gorgeous!

I have on tattoo at the moment but want another on my left ankle/foot. My current one is just of stars and dots on my right forearm, I've had it about a year now.
