  1. Good answer with Spirited Away. I think you have to post a picture now for others to guess. If you don't know how to just pass it on to someone else.

    Welcome to the site. :)

  2. Welcome to the site. I only just joined like yourself but am finding it as friendly as ELQ says. :)

  3. Paella or Chorizo con patatas and lucky spending time in Spain I am a demon at cooking both. Other than that I have the odd special treat takeaway of King Prawn Vermicelli with Sweet and Sour and mix the two. Heaven after a long night on the ale.
  4. Every now and then something comes along that I give a chance that I wouldn't usually watch, that show at the moment is Glee. I have to admit I'm really enjoying it at the moment but I have a nasty feeling it will be one of those shows that goes downhill very quickly. I hope I'm wrong.
  5. I'm Patrick Bateman, it's quite disturbing being me.
  6. American Psycho The Road Fahrenheit 415 1984 The Kite Runner A Thousand Splendid Suns On Bullfighting (going to save this one for when I'm in Spain in June) This Thing of Darkness The Miracle of Castel Di Sangro Dawn of the Dumb
  7. Thanks. I notice that Fahrenheit 451 was the recommended reading material for the bookgroup this month. Small world given I only found out about it the other day and it is currently winging its way to my door as we speak.
  8. If you're going to rip us at least make it funny: Sky Sports: Liverpool fans bamboozled by reading. In other news Liverpool knocked out of F.A Cup by the Royals Liverpool have apparently signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with GayTV. Apparently the GTV reps were delighted to be able to offer their viewers the chance of watching 11 ***holes get punished for 120 minutes.
  9. I haven't read them but apparently Charlie Brooker's books are hilarious. If they are anything like his shows (and apparently they are) then I would have no choice but to concur.
  10. That is interesting. I've suffered from both over the years and I'm glad to say that both have died down. Real migraines just stop you in your tracks, you can't do anything.
  11. How can the greatest ever be a wife beating alcoholic who wasn't even the greatest in his sport? The greatest ever for me (though it is a very broad term) is Muhammed Ali for the simple fact his greatness transcends the sporting arena. If you are asking who is the most dominant within their sport I'm going to say ... Phil "The Power" Taylor. Not the most athletic sport in the world but still a sport by definition and that man dominates it like nothing we've ever seen.
  12. Inglorious Basterds. Not too impressed to be honest. Some good parts but overall you expect much more from the man who brought us Pulp Fiction.
  13. [apologies if you've read this as I posted on another book forum] Hello there. My name is Rich, I'm from Liverpool England and the reason I have joined this site it to recapture my love for reading. I used to love reading as a child and never had a book out of my hand, at an early age my favourite book was Matilda and then I moved on to the Discword books, then Shakespeare (though sadly not as many as I would have liked to this point) and finally biographies and sports related books. My favourite sports book is "Football Against the Enemy" by Simon Kuper and if you are interested in Football or even just curious what it means to the world and how it has come to shape certain countries as much as politics then I suggest you look into it. His interview with the man who was terrorised by the Stasi for the team he supported is one of the best pieces I have ever read as he presents the facts seemingly without hyperbole and while being sympathetic the man's cause he doesn't try and pretend he has any idea what it was like nor does he try and convey a false emotion to the reader. It is perfectly handled and conveys the interviewees emotions not his own. Another sports book I have just finished is "The Bad Guys Won" which is Jeff Pearlman's account of the 1986 New York Mets the most dispicable team to ever play the game of Baseball and perhaps ever and yet if you are like me you can't help but warm to these louts as they remind you what sport used to be like. I may not have followed Baseball in the 80's but believe me this book is all too familiar of a culture that has died in every sport, both the good and the bad. I'm just reading American Pyscho at the moment and finding it very enjoyable if not somewhat disturbing to say the least. It's nice to be here and I hope I can contribute while at the same time learn something new and get some good recommendations for the future. I've always been interested in music, films, sport amoung other things but reading is my only passion that has been sporadic. I have to say given how much I am enjoying it these days I think this reaffirmation could lead to it being a pastime that is here to stay.
  14. Blade Runner. I enjoyed the book but the original uncut version of the film is just untouchable. The revised version where they take out the monologue is just not right!
  15. Just watched my New York Jets make their way to the AFC final. I'm a happy man right about now.
  16. Glad to see a couple of 5's. I ordered this a few days ago and am really looking forward to reading it.
