  8. Hi Julie I think I am overtired because I have started back at the gym last week and I have to push on through the initial muscle pain and fatigue till I start feeling better again. Last week was just aerobics and swimming but this week I started back on the weights again. After I finish the gym I just flop down and sleep until it is time to go to work. Happy Days!! I am not in an unhappy mood just that my mind is in one place and my body is in another.

Enjoying it better than The Angel's Game, although the two books seem quite similar. I am in a strange detached yet- can't- give- a-monkeys mood today. Maybe I should have a nap before I go to work. Received Mistress Masham's Repose through the post.

  20. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_16?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-text&field-keywords=the+penal+colony+richard+herley&sprefix=the+penal+colony%2Cdigital-text%2C147 The Penal Colony by Richard Herley Amazon UK This was a stonking good read. I think it goes in the genre of speculative fiction. It is set in 1997, (so was possibly written a few years before that?). An innocent man called Routledge has been wrongly convicted of rape and murder , by the normal process of British law. What is diifferent in this version of 1997 is that a right wing government has taken tough measures and made several islands off the UK coastline into penal colonies where certain categories of criminals are sent for life, with no chance of reprieve. Routledge wakes up at Sert, an island off the coast of Cornwall and his ordeal begins. In his first days of confusion and mind numbing fear he has to fight for his survival in this new unforgiving society . He is a quantity surveyor, unfit and soft. Can he possibly survive ? Or will he succumb to madness? There is nothing second rate about the writing, the book is gripping throughout. definitely worth downloading.
  21. Hi Frankie, I already put a pic in my New Life thread but here it is again for you:
  22. You have a collection for Maths , chesil? I thought about cross-adding books to different collections but in the end I didn't. I would rather learn to find them in just one place.
  23. I won't be reading that till March but I will certainly let you know. Yes Coraline is the one they made into a movie. The book and film are slightly different but both very very good.
  24. Hi Poppy very sorry to hear about Oscar, At least he is not in any pain now and is running around in Cat heaven. Or, if you believe in my theory, has been beamed back up to his home planet to report.
  25. Although I will check out all the ones I have been recommended, I chose my Romance book for the Genre Challenge. I found it at work . The woman on the cover is about to swoon or faint and the guy has an eyepatch. I couldn't resist it. It looks so bad It has to be good.
