  1. I'm going for beat(ish) classics. Of time and the river - Thomas Wolfe The plague - Albert Camus The dharma bums - Jack Kerouac
  2. The most disturbing thing I ever read is definitely Naked Lunch by William Burroughs. Christ knows what genre you would put it in though. 1984, Brave new world and the island of dr moreau are up there also
  3. I've always had the same problem with the sharpe stuff but i'll give it a go somewhen. Just read 'The last kingdom' which I would highly recommend
  4. Frank Zappa's auto 'The real Frank Zappa book' is brilliant, inside the crazy mind of a genius, from what he named his pets to his censorship battles. Patrick Humphries' bio of Nick Drake makes for an interesting if slightly morbid read. Spike Milligan's war memoirs are hilarious. Lance Armstrong's two auto's are a good insight into fighting cancer and riding til your head explodes
  5. Eddy Merckx is an absolute hero. Definitely the hardest working sportsman ever. He won just about everything in cycling.
  6. One more kilometre and we're in the showers by Tim Hilton is a great cycling book, more about the eccentricities of amateur enthusiasts than normal which makes for a different read. Everest by Sir Chris Bonington is a good book about . . . thats right you guessed it
