He is one of the greatest ever horror writers, deserving his place, as many have described, in between Lovecraft and Poe on your bookshelf. But these two names being mentioned is misleading. I read someone review his work and state that it is as if he is oblivious to all other horror literature in his lifetime. This is a great compliment.
