I read the posts - would you say that the most important thing in a historical novel is the research and the accuracy of the historical setting?

I've not heard of London, by Edward Rutherfurd until this thread - what an excellent theme for a book like that. Following the generations through London as the city develops. Great idea. 1300 pages though - wow!

There were lots of 70's and 80's comedy shows that were great, much better than modern ones I think!

I'm more towards non-fiction - that is what I mainly read, but it gave me the interest in the history to actually write a fictional book myself!

I dont think the television dramas did the book any favours. What does everyone else think?
