  1. Hey Sue!!

I've just noticed your avatar.....I take it you'll be watching X Factor tonight then? I personally can't wait! Mr Bon Jovi is very handsome! xx

  2. Hey Tristan!

    Thanks for the request!

Hope you're doing grand and settling into the forum :D

  3. Hey Whitegold!

I've just seen your thread saying you've decided on The Boleyn Inheritance but it's now closed so I can't comment. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it! Let me know how you find it as I'm totally in love with the Tudor Series by Philippa Gregory. I read The Queen's Fool a few months ago (which was also fantastic!) and I'd highly recommend that one too!

    Happy reading :D:D

  4. Hey!!

Reality tv is in full swing in the UK too at the moment. We've got Big Brother, X factor, Strictly Come Dancing (I think that's what it's called??) and there's bound to be others! It's just too easy to flop infront of the tv and watch it all isn't it! I'm the same :D What's the programme you've been watching?

Well I keep thinking that I'll start this book or that book but I think Charlaine Harris has stolen my mojo :cry2: And by the time I write to her to ask for it back and then of course she'll have to book tickets with Virgin Airlines etc.....well it could be weeks before it returns. I was re-reading Dead & Gone slowly and finished that this morning at work.

Currently I have the Count of Monte Cristo, The Nightshift by Stephen King, Point Horror's The Beach House by RL Stine and a Johnny Cash Autobiography on the floor at my feet. I'm stuck!

  5. Hey!

Thanks for my birthday message AND song! I've just logged in to find loads of messages.....they've totally cheered me up :D

    Thanks again!

  6. Hey!

That's so cool! I want one! We didn't get a chance to see it unfotunately but I'm sure we can prob get it on dvd soonish.....looking forward to seeing it! :D

I've had a nightmare few days. My stepdad has just died.....we can't believe it! He's only been married to my Mother for 4 weeks.....she's devastated! So I've been over at her house staying with her and she has no internet (she's just learned how to text!!) The funeral is on Monday but it's not really sinking in yet. I told her she should read Mitch Albom (??)'s 5 People You Meet In Heaven....it's a nice story. :)

Did anyone decide on the next book yet?

    Hope you're ok :):)

  7. Nicola

    Hey!

Yes.....it's best to be out of bother isn't it! (although a little mischief from time to time is good for the soul :D)

I'm canny. Just working away on uni stuff really. Found out that we're graduating on 6th July so now I'm wondering what on earth you wear to a graduation? I'm imagining it's not a tracksuit and trainers kind of affair

    Hope you're grand :D

  8. I bought my Maiden's Grave at a charity shop too! 25p! haaa! You can't buy a bar of chocolate for 25p these days

You're right about not oggling at him when he's reading.....I've been trying really hard not to :D

I'm almost finished Lestat and it's getting good! (maybe a bit too late but at least the good stuff has arrived eh!! haa!!)

  9. I can't believe those girls would resort to such measures to win a contest..... and he's awful!!!! :lurker:

Yup definitely paid on Friday! I triple checked at work today :D Now down to 30p so it's much needed! haa!

There's always one person that brings shame on themselves and their entire family. There was a girl called Kinga who got drunk one night and did things with a bottle that should NEVER be done with a bottle....I'm sure if you google 'Big Brother Kinga Bottle' you'll get the bigger picture. It was disgusting!!! And the first people to have sex in the BB house were a teenage couple who were put in as a 2 week experiment a few years ago. They were 14 ish & the whole thing was televised!

  10. I can't wait to get started! Ross has a work experience placement sorted out over the summer so I'm going to be home alone with nothing to do but read!! Cant wait! :D:D:D

Did it take long to get through Darkly Dreaming Dexter?

I'm dying to tell you how Lestat ends!! (I'm one of those people) haa! I'll just have to be patient! haaa!

  11. I definitely will.....I don't know why I haven't got a copy yet!

Maybe Amazon.co.uk would post it to you? or Ebay? And as for Good Omens.....tell him to get a move on!! haa!! Or you could temporarily steal it, denying all knowledge until you've finished. Then tell him you found it in a random place :)

I know......I'm clearly a bad person!! Karma will come and get me! haaaa

  12. Nicola

I don't know what's wrong with my posts....they keep cutting off for some reason and I have characters left too :-(

Anyway, I was just saying that Newcastle has been a tad chilly this summer :-(

    Hope you're grand :-D

  13. I ended up looking at it on you tube as I couldn't be bothered to register either  I loved the Eric one! It looks like his hair is a bit darker in series three. My Sister has a massive crush on Godric () and was devastated when he went up in smoke. She's the only person I know who prefers Godric to Eric!

I'm poor too this summer so no holiday for me. I'm taking in a lodger in July/August to help out with the bills etc but by the time I pay the MA fees I'll still be poor. :weeping: Last summer we went to London on one of those

  14. I join you in the penniless and stressed camp if you'd like some company! I've just finished a design project that I've been working on since 9 this morning so I have square eyes at the minute  It's this time of year isn't it. Deadlines, and Christmas and poverty oh my!

Keep your chin up mrs....there'll be snow on the ground soon! Something to look forward to :D! :friends0: xx

  15. I know what you mean about moving away for the experience. I considered doing my course in Liverpool but I thought about leaving all my friends behind and I love it in town. Wandering around the city centre shops is one of my favourite things to do! :D They could easily condense courses into two years couldn't they. Last year I had 9 hours of lectures a week (3 of those were seminar groups!) Crazy!

What are you studying? There's nothing better than reading in sun is there......ahhhhh! Reminds me of holiday! :D:mrgreen::D

  16. I know! My BF is still laughing!!

I hope everythings going well on the writing front :D Everything so far has been fantastic! I was coming home on the bus the other day and my mind was wandering (as a mind does) and for a split second I thought "Ooooh after dinner I'll read a bit more of that book". Then I realised that actually, I didn't have the book because it hasn't been written yet! I was gutted and the little ball of warm excitement in my stomach disappeared :D

I'm sending waves of 'happy writing' down to you :friends0:

  17. I know.......it's just weird isn't it!! Imagine not knowing the smell of old books that've been in the school library for year!! Not good!! :10_confused:

Yeah I'll let you know what I think. I'm about 100 or so pages in and it's pretty good. However, you know when you really enjoy a book and you secretly read it under your desk when you should be working because it's soo good? Well it doesn't have that for me. Watch this space!!

    What is a reading blog?

  18. I know.....it was a bit wasn't it. But I suppose it's just one of those easy reads that are good from time to time. I was surprised when they made it into a movie as I didn't really think enough had happened. I still haven't seen it.

You've made me feel a lot better about my Bruno-hate.....haaa!! I think I thought he was just too selfish and a bit of a winge. I just remember thinking "My goodness. If that was my son I'd have a hard time not strangling him!!" He was always doing things he was told not to and look where it got him! (Maybe a bit harsh :tong:)

I finished the Anansi Boys today. It was really good and hilarious. I'm thinking of hunting Neil Gaiman down and asking him to marry me!! If I ask nicely he might just say yes!

  19. Nicola

I suppose for me it's more of a local pride thing than the football :D We were playing Reading and won 3-0!! I'm actually enjoying life in the championship this season as there's a chance of getting to the top of the league! I was terrible at sport too....the last one picked etc. Not good! We must have been given brains instead of athletic ability eh Mac!!

As for the orange sauce I've no idea!! haa!! I normally buy my sauces in a jar from Morrisons

  20. I think Jim is on a total rebound with Karen. I really don't like her......she's just in the way!! And the crisps thing....I could have strangled Jim. He's such a flirt!

I love it how Michael and Dwight think that they changed managements mind about closing Scranton Branch by standing outside of the big boss's house!

Oh and the coffee bit I love is the part where Dwight saves Stanley from the coffee! How ingenius is that script. Dwight is so dramatic! Have you seen the one where Dwight forms an 'alliance' with Jim? That's another favourite episode of mine. It has to be THE best comedy of the past few years.

On another note, I've just finished my last essay of the year! Whooooop! Here I come Christmas! :D:mrgreen::D

  21. I think when you get to 3rd year they think that you've come too far to quit so they leave all the awful stuff until then :irked: We've gone from designing housing schemes (which was really good) to Planning Theory and Policy Analysis (which is one subject on Mondays at 6!). Horrendous! So do you get to take a year out in placement on your course?

Well this year I'm going to my Sister's for Christmas lunch as we lost our Step-dad in April and we just want to make the day as easy as possible for my Mam really. Her BF makes the nicest dinner though! Yum! It rivals my Grandma's cooking so I'm looking forward to it :D

What are your plans for Christmas day? Oooooh its only 10 days away! Heeee! :D:mrgreen:

  22. I thought it was quite inventive which for me is something!! Haa!! I was thinking about having 'Queen of the Damned' but thought it sounded quite sinister for those who don't know about the book

You'll never guess what I've just done! I was looking into short stories by Charlaine Harris and found a link to a free pdf for a tale which sounded quite interesting. So I followed all the instructions thinking that at the end of it I'd have myself a story I could read tonight.......turns out I've actually joined myself up to another forum where I can "discuss gadgets, technology, mobile, news, reviews and more." I barely know how to work my laptop....how can I possibly contribute! I believe I was tricked! Tricked I tell you!!

  23. I totally agree about the whole 'kids exposing themselves and each other' on the internet. Like you, I'm glad that we didn't have to deal with that while growing up. Imagine!!!!! When you think about how much you change as a person between then and now, it's pretty scary to think that your former self could be lurking somewhere just waiting to embarrass you at any given moment. Eeeeek!! :icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek:

I think we English people have just had our summer. Two days of sunshine is the usual going rate! It's really windy and rainy and just plain grey today :irked:

I'm definitely going to wikipedia Carcassonne! I became addicted to Scrabble last summer. We'd just sit and play it for days on end (We even created a mini-league system.....pretty embarrassing really!! haa!!)

  24. I went out last night to celebrate the end of two stressful weeks so I'm feeling a little worse for wear this morning. :drama: I distinctly remember drinking Crazy Frog cocktails which contain a random bunch of spirits and alchopops to make it green......not good! *heave* Yack!

Have a good day Miss Frankie and 'Hyv

  25. I wouldn't have a clue where to start! Youtube is about as far as I get with stuff like that

Well while you're drooling over Mr Northman, think of me sitting at work, bored and jealous!! haa! xx
