  1. :balloons: Happy Birthday Stephanie! :balloons:
  2. At the beginning of 2nd year I had to give a presentation (along with a few others) to the new set of 1st years about the Town Planning Society and I almost died when I saw a lad wearing a grey dressing gown with his pj bottoms and deck shoes!! Do these people own mirrors!?!
  3.:lol: I saw a sunflower earlier! You have to admire the people who get dressed up eh :D
  4. :welcome2:Hi Niki!

Hope you settle in ok :)

  5. :5birthday:

    Happy belated birthday Nici!

  6. :D Frankie!!

I don't think you've missed much really but I've been laying low myself with work and sunny weather! Ooooh I finished Deaver's Empty Chair about 30 mins ago and it was amazing as per ususal!

How have you been? How's your healthy eating going?

My nickname thing is Agent-Tattletale who is a character in Chuck Palahniuk's Haunted (12/10!!) I've never heard of Goodreads but will check it out.

Finland sounds brilliant, as does the culture and the people! I think I would definitle like to visit it one day....thanks for the offer by the way! :D Obviously, if you ever find yourself in Newcastle Upon Tyne you can stay at my humble abode too :D The idea of light nights sounds fantastic! Around June time we get sun until about 10 - 10:30ish which is without a doubt my favourite time of year.

  7. :dunno: Well I would too! I suppose some people must like to walk very close to the edge!! haa!!

As for the BCF....I've been pretty good today! Managed to get my essay plan sorted for that crazy urban utopia essay and did a bit of research too. That book is really good. The couple have just moved into Celebration and are starting to get freaked out at everyone's enthusiasm. They've also just paid an absolute fortune to live there!

I think I'd go mad!! Imagine......they're only allowed to put up white curtains or blinds to make the area match!! And so many people wanted to live there that Disney decided to make everyone pay $1000 to enter a lottery for the chance to buy a house. They made $1.2 million from it!! :eek2:

  8. I know what you mean....Facebook is so bad!!! Facebook chat is just the worst thing for a student at assignment time too  Not good!! Two of my friends of friends are having a really nasty break-up at the moment and it's currently being fought out over facebook status updates....haa! It's pretty hard not to snoop

I think I'm getting worse at work. I'm hoping to leave in Feb and I've gradually reduced my hours from 37 to 15 (!!!) so I'm at that point where I'm past caring but it's bound to come and bite me on the bum isn't it!

Well I hope you dragged yourself away from the internet and got your tasks finished :D:D

  9. I used Google Translator! The United States!!

I know what you mean about Tim. I used to really like him but compared to Jim he's pretty bland eh! His tricks are amazing! They Gaydar thing is brilliant! Have you seen the episode where he's replaced Dwight's desk and chair with wrapped boxes and put's his really desk in the toilets? Haa! It's so great. Have you also seen the episode with the George Foreman grill? That's another favourite of mine :D It's just soooooo good!

As for the woman in the other office, Karen, I'm not a fan at all. My BF kept saying "oh, she's ok. Why don't you like her?" She's just not Pam! It's as simple as that. I'm sure she's lovely but she can be lovely with someone who isn't Jim  I'm going to have to re-watch that episode now :D

Hope you're enjoying your Independance Day fun!

  10. In bed with Alex Skarsgard indeed....my brain is near exploding just thinking about it! haaa!! I once had a topless picture of Brad Pitt as my avatar for about 25 seconds before I changed it for fear of being evicted too  I love the Glee pic...doesn't the mention of Glee really cheer you up!?!

Well I'm about to have a bath as I went to pilates in Eldon Square's gym last night and the entire backside of my body aches :drama::blush:. So I'll take the Vampire Diaries with me and see how I get on. They shouldn't take too long to get through hopefully and I'll try to forget all about the Sookie Stackhouse books so as not to compare.

My week has been canny really. FINALLY finished The Vampire Armand today after starting it before Christmas and giving up twice  I've just been busy with uni work...mainly placement applications and dissertation stuff.

How about you? Have you been up to much? I saw on Facebook that you had a few of your grades back...hope you did well :D xx

  11. Poor Lestat! I love the later books as he usually introduces them and I can just hear Stuart Townsend speaking in his french accent from Queen of the Damned, in that seductive tone he has.

I'm reading Q & A at the moment by Vikas Swarup. Slumdog Millionnaire was based on it although the only thing that is similar is the gameshow element and a few situations. I'm enjoying it so far although (dare I say it) it's not as good as the movie yet.

3 days in placement is a fantastic opportunity isn't it. Do you have a placement set up already or will it be allocated to you in Sept?

I really like Edinburgh for a day or two but it was so cold and windy last week that I thought it'd be pretty depressing to live there. I also couldn't find a Mac make up shop/stand so it's not the city for me

  12. :welcome2: Hello Ross! :welcome2:

    Love the avatar btw!!

  13. A bank holiday every fortnight sounds fabulous to me! I've just been to Jesmond Dene which is a really nice park area in the middle of the city (if you get a chance to google it I'd take a look at the images) It was created by William Armstrong in the 1860's for his Fiancee. He built a chapel in the centre to hold the wedding ceremony and the surrounding woodland creates a rural setting which you'd never place in a city. It's just beautiful and it's protected land now so can never be developed. We had a few drinks and nibbles in the sun. Really chilled out!

I hope your spring rolls were nice Frankie! :D

  14. Ah bless her!! That'll be me when I'm older......beans on toast is about as far as I get! Although I can bake a pretty good cake  It must be nice to actually help prepare the meal. It makes you a central part of Christmas! I know what you mean about it getting to a certain time and wanting a bit of peace and quiet. I don't think I'll get any until Boxing Day unfortunately. After dinner at my Sisters we're staying for tea and then heading to nightlife central (also known as Felling Social Club ) for a night of Motown and hip replacements! Lovely!! Eeeeee we went the other week to get my Mam out the house and me and my Sister ended up winning most of the bingo that night.....we were hated!!)

There's a pretty good discussion going on the in the Mature Discussion thread about a child's right to privacy. You might find it interesting (it gets a bit heated at times mind you! :lurker:)

  15. Ah Frankie it was amazing!! I think you should choose London as your English speaking destination for your work placement. It's just the most fabulous city and there's a million places to go.

We saw the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Parliment, the famous shopping streets, Harrods (which was bizarre!) ooooh loads of things really. My favourite places being Camden Market and Covent Garden.

You have flu? :friends0: Poor you! And fancy missing the music festival too. Ahhhhhh :( Well I hope you're feeling better soon. I think the best thing to cheer a person with the flu up is a nice tub of expenive icecream. It's seriously good at putting a smile back on my face and picking me up! :D I would suggest triple chocolate though.

Oh don't worry about previous messages etc. I always get side tracked or just nip in for a quick browse :) life and books often get in the way don't they! What are you reading at the mo?

  16. Ah I'm glad to hear you had fun! It's definitely good to get distracted from the snacks isn't it! The weightwatchers diet is starting to lose its novelty for me. I get weighed tomorrow though so hopefully it'll inspire me if I lose weight. Got a feeling I wont.....the whole fortnightly cycle thing happened to me the last time I went but I've been really good and stuck to it so fingers crossed! How's it all going for you?

Haaaa.....the whole notorious nightlife in Newcastle is good and bad. It's good because it attracts lots of stag and hen nights so there's always people in fancy dress. They put so much effort into they're costumes sometimes and they're always good to see. :D

  17. Ah thank you so much Charm! I'll get it read asap :D

I'm really looking forward to it after hearing so many good reviews! :D

    Thanks again xx

  18. Ah thanks!! That'll save my life!! And yeah, I thought everyone knew how Harry Potter finished too....that's probably why I didn't think about it too much!! Eeeeeeek!! :eek2:

So how are you finding Boy in the Striped Pyjamas? Are you hating the little boy yet (or is that just me??)

  19. Ah that's brilliant! She's an amazing storyteller isn't she :D I loved the character of Kitty Howard....she was funny to read. I can't believe that her Uncle sent 2 of his neice's to the tower with little concern as long as he had a secure place at the King's side.....men eh :D

You'll have to let me know when you pick up the others. You've inspired me to get started with the Virgin's Lover now

  20. Ah the best place to people watch is Monument. For some bizarre reason, the strangest collection of people gather there.

You're probably right about the network of tunnels connecting Bensham! It wouldn't surprise me!

It's another 3 years for me too! I finish the degree next year then move onto a 2 year diploma, the first year of that is on work placement though so it's not too bad. Then I've got to go back for about 4 hours a week in 5th year. It seems so far away but it's flown by so quickly already. We'll blink and it'll be graduation! Eeeek! :D

  21. Ah you see, I have a Sister and she's usually the one who's organising joint gifts. We're expecting a Step-Nephew soon so she dragged me around town to buy things for a baby box. Neither of us have any experience if children so we ended up sticking to what we know best and bought loads of tiny clothes and shoes! Haaa! He's going to be the best dressed baby on the ward :D

Ooooh sounds like you were spolit then I love pandora too. My Mam got me one for Christmas but the charms aren't actual Pandora. I have an angel, a cherub and a star on mine from the jewellers in Black Friars. They fit perfectly though. My Sister has a full Pandora but she likes to treat herself to nice things :lol:

This sun is lovely isn't it. I've started walking along the Quayside everyday on my way into town....everyone's chirpy when the sun's out :D

How's your dissertation coming along? :D

  22. Nicola

Also (me again!!), if you haven't been to the Ouseburn Valley before, you might want to check out this site :)

    http://www.ouseburnnewcastle.org

I usually head down there with my friends (bonfire night was amazing! Views of fireworks over the valley with hot cider and mulled wine at The Cumberland Arms....heaven!) xx

  23. Anyway.....How's Dead to the World going? I love the bit where he's watching Buffy too. I also love it when he hides behind her legs when Pam and Chow first come to visit him after the he loses his memory. Bless him! :D

Yeah Eragon is going well. I can't escape the fact that it's pretty much just the story of star wars (there's too many similarities....orphan living with uncle, finds magic power, uncles farm burned down so he sets off with local weirdo/old guy who turns out to know all about the magic power etc etc) set in the landscape of Lord of the Rings with elves and dwarves as well as other mythical races. It's good though and it was written buy a 15 year old so a good effort. :D

  24. Babies babies everywhere! My friend Amy is now 3 months pregnant with her first child and my cousin is pregnant with her first child this year too but it's quite a sad affair as her Husband has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. It's developed so far that there isn't anything they can do for him, only slow it down enough for him to see the baby born. He's only 31 but when he found a lump he was too scared to confront it, thinking it would probably be nothing major. She's really excited for the baby to get here but at the same time, she doesn't want it to arrive either. Bless her.

Budget charms are the future (well, until we get actual paying jobs!) I'm sure there's a stall in the Metro Centre too that sells glass charms for

  25. BCF is lethal to studying isn't it!! It's too easy to drop back in every 20 mins only to spend another 30 mins reading unread posts (or leaving spoilers in my case!!!!! Still mortified!! A bit of an argument followed my apology!! Eeek!! One person said that it's probably assumed that everyone now knows the ending to harry potter, another person asked why people were reading the discussion about the Harry Potter books when they hadn't read them as it was bound to let a few things slip. Other people said that we should be respectful of others........can of worms and I've not gone back!!! haa!! It's the Harry Potter forum if you're interested in a snoop!)

He is quite nice for an older man isn't he!! But why so far away?? hmpf!
