I finished The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas last night and it was brilliant although I thought it was quite predictable that Bruno would go to the other side of the fence at some point and that it would turn out to be a really bad idea...

I cannot believe that I have to agree with you about Bruno. I think he started out as a sweet innocent boy, but man, he was stupid! He listened to Shmuel's stories everyday and didn't really understand any of it, just kept going about his own problems after a curtious line of sympathy to Shmuel. Okay he was only 9 but I think you gotta give 9-year-old kids a little bit more credit than that, I don't think they're that stupid. I think Bruno wasn't as much naive as he was thoughtless
