  1. It's great, my friend. If you don't love it, I'll eat my hat (no pressure there, though, as I have a fair few of them!)

    Hop you're well, Scarlette!

  2. Hiya, Kelly. Thanks for getting Ben to recommend that book for me. That was lovely of you. There are so many lovely people visiting this site regularly. I fell a bit touched! I hope you're very well, my friend.

(I am soooo down with the kids, one knows)...

  4. Mac

Morning, Paula! I hope you're very well and have lovely things planned for the week ahead, my friend. xx

  5. Hiya. I noticed on Dan's thread that you've borrowed Norwegian Wood. Its beauty is second to none. I hope you enjoy it. Check out my review of it on Mac Reads 2009 if you think it might tantalise your taste for it.

Hope you're excellent and well, friend of mine.

  6. Thank you, my friend. I could rant for days about the blooming media. I often get criticized at work (I work with adults with learning disabilities and a bunch of very pc people) and am sometimes viewed as a little controversial with my rants on the side of sense. I hope you're well.

Hey Paula. Just dropping in to say hellllloooooooo! How's things wit choo? Hope all's well, my friend.

  8. Mac

    Good evening, Nicola.

Thank you, fella, for the sound advice on the bilge that I spew out like black bile from my festering insides...it's very helpful. I've never really done anything like this before, having concentrated on song writing most of my post-adolescent life. I will make sure I take it all on board as I re-write and progress with said bile.

What's the book you're reading in the picture?

Hope you're very well. Thanks again.

  10. Hello Giulia. :friends0:

Just wanted to send you a virtual hug, 'cos it's been ages since we last chopsed together (is that how one spells "chopsed"? Is it "choppsed"? Maybe I should just write "conversed"...)

How are you doing, my lovely friend? I think I've missed you while I've been away! :D

  11. Mac

Cheers, fella! Had to settle for second best with Dave. There was a massive picture of old Hal on the website, mind...

And Hal wins hands down between him and Lecter, easily.

Things a re reasonably good, thanks. Tomorrow is my final day at work (with people with learning disabilities), I then have a week off where I'm going to record some new tunes I've been tinkering with, and then it's the New Job In Secondary School chapter. So I'm okay.

How're things up there? My Uncle owns a number of restaurants round your neck of the woods. Have you ever been or heard of Oldfields?

  13. Hello there, Genevieve. I hope you are very well. Just popping by to make sure you're alright. x

  14. Mac

Well, I've bought Wednesday's winning ticket, so I'll drop you a line and we'll leave on Saturday. How does that sound? ;) x

  15. I was in Abergavveny last October with some of my Scouts who were taking part in an orienteering competition (one of them called it 'Abergavenny', bless her...)

Lovely town. Some nice cafe's and the like. Spent a fortune on thermal undies, 'cos I was really cold.

I can understand, also, the wish to move away from Bedford. My brother lived there for a while. I feel for you, my friend.

Good morning, Sarah. Sorry to read that you didn't get the library job. I'm sure something will turn up, though.

I noticed that you're reading The Wind-up Bird Chronicle. I loved this book (it even inspired a song of mine). Murakami is sublime. I'm currently reading A Wild Sheep Chase which is equally brilliant. I love this guy!

You seem to have gone through the mill a little of late. All your friends on here are thinking of you and sending excellent vibes over the water. Take care.x

  17. Mwah mwah mwah!

*sounds of Mac dashing off, slamming a door and giggling coquettishly...

It's Sunday morning now, and I'm feeling a lot better, ta. I finished Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami last night and prior to that I was reading Simple Genius by David Baldacci (I have eclectic tastes!). This flaming illness lasted for 12 days, though - and I still only had 2 days off! I need to have a word with myself. Hope you have a lovely Sunday. I'm off walking over th'ills...

  19. Hey there. I loved The Book Thief. I hope you're enjoying it.

And, watching Friends is nothing to be ashamed of. After all, it is on all the time!

I'm sorry to read that you broke up with your fella, Nicola, and I hope that things have settled down for you. Great news about the MA. What's it in? The message you sent stopped after that information! Hugs and stuff. x

Hi Janet. Sorry to bother you, but Chrissy said I should find a moderator if I run into problems. I would like to be able to access the debating forum, but can't seem to get it right. I've gone to the User CP bit and filled that in, but the request seems to have gone to Michelle2, which appears to have no activity. Some of the topics seem interesting to me and I would enjoy discussing them with the group. I'm always respectful of others' views and I promise I'm not an extremist in any way. I would really appreciate your help in this. Thank you.

  22. Good morning, Katie. How has your week been? It's Saturday, and I'm just about to get myself off to work for the morning. My week has been very full, with some curious things coming about. I certainly can't complain about being bored! I hope you're well, chum. Have a magic weekend. :D

  23. Mac

I've worked with teenagers since I was 21 either in a voluntary capacity or as a part-time youth worker, so I thoroughly agree with your friend. I'm really looking forward to it.

Oldfields is in Jesmond, and there's another one in Newcastle proper, somewhere, and one in Durham and another somewhere else (I'm not sure where!). My Uncle is Bill Oldfield. He's a brilliant bloke. When I was small, I used to call him "Uncle Brill". Still do, really.

I hope the hangover is not a two-day job (mine tend to be, these days!)

  24. Morning, mate. You're up early (as I am - not well, coughing and spluttering like an old codger, calling in sick as soon as my boss is up).

How're things in your part of the world?

  25. Mac

Good man. Good call. Good work!

    Hope you're well, fella.
