  1. Mostly rock and metal for me.

Some of my favourite bands and artist are:

    Dream Theater

    Ramstein

    Pink Floyd

    Metallica

    Guns & Roses (original lineup)

    Velvet Revolver

    David Bowie

    Pink

    I tend to like harder-edged, guitar-led stuff.

some good bands there i like most of them too :) How do you feel about the new GnR album, i havnt listened yet, is it as good as it was built up to be?

Aretha Franklin, tbird my friend. Almost anything Aretha recorded for Atlantic Records between 1967 and 1973 is the finest soul music anyone ever recorded. Angel is my personal favourite, but you can't go wrong with any of it.

Thanks for that ill take a look :)

  2. sorry for double posting, i dont know how to edit a post, maybe someone could tell me how? :D

anyway reviewing the thread it seems there are a lot of people who like jazz/soul/(original)r n b. I nice mixed bunch, thank you all for leaving a reply, i havn't been here for a few days and its nice to see people take an interest to my thread :)

lately ive been trying to get into soul, because every now and then i will hear a piece that takes my breath away, however i can never find it due to not knowing who it is etc, so could any one maybe recommend a good soul/jazz artist. I like stevie wonder and um .. james brown is it?

  3. I also like all sorts of music but lately I've been listening to Kings of Leon, Staind, Fallout Boy and Nickleback :D. I do like Muse though and my son has had Metallica on his ipod dock a lot lately (brings back memories!) - he would prob know all the bands you've mentioned .. he keeps coming to me with bands he thinks are great and I've either never heard of them or have a cd of theirs from years ago :)! He has a Nirvana track on as his ringtone and we both like The Foo Fighters! Do you like any of the ones I've mentioned?

Yes i especially like the foos and kings of leon :)

  5. I'm looking for some new material to read, not so much any specific books but just good authors that seem to have a nack for writing a good book.

    I'm looking for:

    -A similar style to King/Koontz/Mccammon

    -Horror/Thriller

    -Likable characters

-An author that can entwine two or more stories and make a gob-smacking final twist

-Doesnt have to be horror; I really enjoyed 'Hearts in Atlantis' (King) 'A Boys Life'(McCammon)

-Some kind of 'evil' involved - be it super natural or human.

-Very good description and something easy to follow

-Don't mind ghosts as long as they utilized well (such as in 'Haunted' [James Herbert])

    Dislikes:

    -Vampires.

-Government plots to end the world and so on.

-Aliens (unless of course used in a heart warming way such as in 'One Door Away From Heaven [Koontz])

-'lX-rated' chapters clearly used just to bulk the book up

-I'm not into all the gore and stuff i dont want to be reading 'And as he ripped his spine out a heart stopping scream escaped him'

Any suggestions and/or help would be greatly appreiciated :D

  6. The last CD i bought was Brand X Misery by a band called Cire.

They are a good progressive rock band with grunge and alt/rock influences. Very 'underground' band. If Tool and Rage Against the Machne were ever mixed into one super band, Cire is what they'd sound like. :D

The last thing i *cough*downloaded*cough* was the full alice in chains discography, as ive never took the time to actually listen to them :)

  7. Well Koontz was the first author i ever read from and i can say ive pretty much liked every book of his, bar a few.

I'll give a list and a breif descripion of my top 5

    1) From the Corner of His Eye - Very big, in depth book with very likable characters. The plot twists and turns and entertained me from start to finish. Alot of characters and entwining stories.

2)Mr Murder - Very well written. The book has got every element - i feel - needed in a book, great characters; great plot; great chase and (hard to describe the next piont) has a human feel to it. Ending lets it downa tad but still a great read.

3)Odd Thomas - 1st person ( I like this because it makes the book more personal and the character(s) easier to relate with), Brilliant mix of thriller and slight humour, easy to follow, brilliantly written FANTASTIC ENDING

4)Dragon Tears - This one is more of a supernatural book which has worked well, again a great sense of relationship between reader and character, Solid story, this book is hard to flaw.

5)The face - Brilliant book. Cleverly written with two entwining stories. It turns slightly toward the supernatural side of things but again works very well. Great relationships between characters (and reader). Has fantastic twists and a great ending.

    Happy reading :D

  8. Hello, my user name is Tbird; but you can call me Tom if you wish :D. I'm 16, well actually 17 as of 3 hours ago (woop), years old and i enjoy reading books from writers such as Dean R Koontz, Stephen King, Robert McCammon and James Herbert. I also like to read some philosophy, but dont ask me too much about who, when and what because I'm not all that educated on the subject, i just like the read, as it makes me think. :)

I'm into poker, music (its my love), reading (of course) and i guess I'm a people person.

I hope to make some friends and have some good discussion, aswell as expand upon my library, while stay here.

Thanks for reading and i hope to hear from you soon :)
