  1. Hiya Echo, how are you? :)

I was watching the umpth season of The Bachelor today, the one with Jason and his little boy Ty, and the girls were transported to Seattle where Jason lives. I've had some vague ideas about Seattle before and I've always found it a fascinating place (fascination started by my grunge fandome during teenage ) but I had no idea it was such a beautiful place! They were cruising on this big boat and the Space Needle was lit up and so were the lights in the houses on the beach and the lights were glowing on the surface of the water. Really beautiful, I'm jealous you get to see that whenever :smile2:

  2. Hiya Kylie! It sounds like you had a great time :D Bookshopping is definitely a must on a birthday ;) And you got lovely gifts as well! I already posted this on your reading blog (or was it the Book Activity -thread) that I think you're doing a great job restraining yourself from book buying. Not that I want you to not buy books, but it that's what you want I'll support you all the way :friends0: And I think it shows strength to not buy a book if the copy is very tatty.

I'm now gonna take a look at the photo you took :D

  3. Hiya Mac!

I'm good thanks, I hope your are well as well :) I don't think BF would ever actually join BCF, he doesn't read that much and he's not that into reading about reading  He doesn't even like reading blurbs because he says they give away the story too much and he'd like to read the book for himself and make his own mind up about the book. Makes choosing for what to read a bit difficult in my opinion... But like I said he doesn't read that much and he keeps to a couple of his favorite authors. I have to get back to you on that Garbadale book, BF is not online yet, I think he's still sleeping :D

So what are you up to today? It's a sunny Sunday here and I'm feeling good about it, I have millions of ideas for today! Although probably I'll just stick to reading and watching the telly...:D

  4. Hiya Mac! :006:

I'll be waiting for the blog ;)

  5. Hiya Nicola :)

Wow I love what you've done to your profile page, really artsy! You seem to be settling in :Dhere just fine!

  6. Hiya Nicola, how are you doing hun? Are you already in definite hols mode, I see you've finished this year's work? So nice to have a relaxing Xmas hols right? How long do you have off school?

BTW, I've been watching Office, I'm already through season 3 (best season ever, I've never laughed so hard. I hate Andy, how creepy is he???) and I'm on s4 now, episode 11 was the last that I watched. I was suppposed to uhm... get the rest of the episodes from BF online, but his machine broke so didn't. Well you never guess what! It's my birthday tomorrow and BF's just sent me a little packet with a memory stick which includes the next 16 episodes or so. Just so I could watch the show!! And he printed a pic of Dwight's head, that's made of little letters arranged so that they together form an image of his head. Isn't that the sweetist thing

  7. Hiya Nicola, how are you? What's up today? :) I'm finally recovering from b-day, I went for drinks with a friend on Fri night and it was a fun, long night! I even made a snow angel when I came back home, everytime I go out I can see it  Some Xmas spirit for neighbors ;)

I'm now up to s5, episode 10, episode 11 is not working on my computer for some reason but I'm not going to skip that one just to get further! Last episode I watch was the Moroccon party and Phyllis blurted out that Angela's been doing Dwight  So next ep must be about Andy & Dwight and there's no way I'm skipping that!! And oooh I've now seen the part where Jim giftwrapped Dwight's "desk" and other "stuff" but boy was Dwight surprised  Epic scene!!

I agree, I always think that the makers should be out of ideas by now because they've done so much but they keep surprising us! I loved Holly, she was perfect for Michael! I hope she comes back to Scranton. Michael was no happy to see Toby back

  8. Hiya Nicola, how've you been?

Congrats on finally finishing Let The Right On In! Sorry to hear it wasn't 10/10 for you (you had me there for a second!). Was it that boring? :/ I hope you've already gotten around to reading a new and better book? I've read Skulduggery Pleasant books (they're really good and bad, very confusing ) and now I'm reading Jennifer Weiner's Goodnight Nobody, it's chick lit with a whodunnit-crime aspect to it. I needed this, I haven't read chick lit in what feels like ages. I'm really enjoying it :)

How's your Weightwatchers going? My getting into shape has been in a bad way for a few days now and I really need to snap out of it and start making process again :irked:

Whitby sounds nice, a bit too turist friendly maybe with all the merchandise but worth a visit anyway. You're so lucky :tong:

  9. Hiya Nicola!

I've been really lazy with the forum lately, I've only been popping in to see the Book Activity Today thread and such, but haven't felt like contributing much. I guess that's the Finnish summer for you =P I'm going to try to be better in the future!

How are you? I've missed the people on the forum and the forum itself quite a lot :) I've noticed you're not enjoying Let the Right One In as much as you would've hoped? Is it because of the writing or the issues in the story? I hope you get over it and enjoy it, which ever the matter it was.

(I hope you understand what I meant, I've had "a couple of" beers with a friend since it was a really beautiful summerday and the weather forecast says it's the only sunny day for the next how many days I don't know :P)

    I hope you are well!

  10. Hiya Nicola!

Haha, 'miss Frankie' sounds like a very poor name for a drag queen

Anyways no problem Nicola, I appreciate people have a life besides BCF and they don't answer straight back :D Did you have fun at BF's parents? I hope you have a relaxing Sunday. I'm real glad to hear you're back though, I've missed your giggly spirits :lol:

Poor Marcus, the delusional fellar. But alas!! If I'm not mistaken he's actually quite popular on the polls? Why!! What's wrong with you people!!

  11. Hiya Paula, how are you? :)

Wow I love your profile page background, very festive and absolutely gorgeous colours! :D

I had a lovely birtday, thanks for asking! Coffee and cake with a friend, shopping in some secondhand bookshops and later in the evening drinks with a friend and a little bar tour. All in all great fun! I even made a snow angle when I came home, it's still visible from my balcony  A little Xmas spirit for the neighbors! ;)

Are you getting excited about your own Birthday that's looming around the corner? :D

  12. Hiya Tiger!

Where have you been, I haven't seen you around in what feels like ages! How are you? Getting into the summer mode already? :) It' quite cold here in Finland right now and it's really windy and it seems like it's going to rain sometime soon, brrrhhh! I hope it'll get warmer soon :)

  13. Hiya,

guess what! The third season of the US version of The Office started today and I was thinking of you when I watched it. Remember when we talked about the show and the whole Jim & Pam deal? The season's started and the plot thickens!! :smile2: Pam's chucked her fiancee-what's-his-name-who-cares but unfortunately Jim's started working in another office. Oh man that first episode was golden, Michael outed Oscar and then tried to make it all better and teach the staff about tolerance and he forced himself on Oscar, hugging him and kissing him  I was laughing my ass off, it was sooooo awkward!!! Goodness gracious I love this show!! <3

  14. Hiya, how's today been treating you? It's 37,2 C over here, it's the highest temperature ever recorded in Finland! I'm just sweating like a pig. Btw, did you mean you really have a bit of Swedish blood in you?

About the pronunciation of my name. You know how to pronounce 'sari', the cloth they wear in Eastern Asia? Well it's basically the same, except that ...

  15. Hiya!

I was browsing through horror&crime fiction books in play.com and I happened to notice that Let The Right One In was there on some special offer, only 2,99

  16. Hiya!

Weekend's over, BF's gone home and I'm back to my reading routines. I finished Deja Dead this afternoon and it was great! Especially after I had figured there's no Booth and you had confirmed that. There was a real twist in the end and a lot of action which I hadn't expected for a debut Tempe book, so it was good :)

I also got real lucky: I was in the library just now getting a book that had arrived for me and I noticed Death Du Jour in the returned today -shelves. I had reserved it but somehow it had slipped through the staff to the normal shelves and it could've gone to some stranger! Even though I was the next in line! I'm glad I happened to be there and I snatched it for myself :) Didn't have to pay the Euro either because I found it on my own

How long has it been since you read the Tempe books, the earlier ones? If you've sorta forgotten the plotline you may as well read them again! I'm going to do that with Scarpetta novels myself, but I'm not sure when now that I found Reichs's books...

Why aren't you able to drive? Have I missed something?

Oh and by the way, still hunting for the Dexter books? :)

I gotta go now, America's Next Top Model is waiting for me in my dear telly :smile2:

  17. Hm that Noughts & Crosses doesn't sound too good the way you put it. But it's only 100 pages so far, maybe it'll pick up for you :)

Reading blog is a blog where you keep a list of books you want to read or have read, your thoughts on the books etc. When you go to the main page of Book Club Forum, there are subsections, and one of those is Reading Lists/Blogs. Check that out if you want :)

  18. Hmph! I had to split my message in two because it was too long so here's the copy+pasted rest of it:

What is it with this forum and avatars! People seem a bit crazed about them I think. To be honest my head is spinning because people keep changing them (especially now that 'tis the season!) and I can't keep track who's who! Okay Okay hold your horses, I'll conform. I won't promise that it'll be Christmassy, but at least snowy or wintery. Or non-summer-related.

  19. Hmph! Well okay then.:irked:

  20. How are you today luv? Oh goodness, I've just realised that you've got a new beautiful background look on this page, The details are fascinating. When I someday get my own apartment I'll send you pics and you could sketch down some ideas for the decor! :)

I had to come here and tell you that the financial dilemmas I was having have now been solved and I can finally breathe again and not worry about making ends meet :) I'm so relieved and happy right now :D

  21. How much do you have left of the Hunchie? He's no fun, he's putting a damper on your reading flow. Bad Hunchie, bad boy!! :irked:

I hope you have a great weekend and the weather is to your liking! I'm going to visit my parents this weekend, my cousin is graduating from highschool tomorrow :) I hope I get to eat cake!!

  22. How was your weekend? Did you manage to enjoy your trip without worrying about your son? The house still intact? I'm waiting for your report :D Midsummer Eve was nice. I went to a friend's housewarming party/Midsummer fest. I enjoyed it and I got home at 5 a.m.! The weather was really cold and gloomy but at least it didn't rain.

Are you really actually seriously going to write to Lindsay? That would be so  Maybe we could get him to write that next Dexter books a whole lot quicker!

Btw, I'm heading South tommorrow, I'm going to Lahti to see BF and his parents, then to Vantaa to see my godson and his new babysister :D Then I'm going to Helsinki. It's the Helsinki Pride week, many gay happenings and parties and I'd love to take part in the sexual minority procession on Sat, apparently it's no Mardi Gras but it's pretty cool and fun on the Finnish scale of things. It's going to be pretty hectic and I won't be having much time to stop at BCF :/

  23. I did a little research and it turns out Alcott first wrote Little Women and then by popular demand she wrote the second part Good Wives and these were later both known as Little Women, so I guess I'm reading the second part of Little Women now. But there are "actual" sequals too, Little Men and Jo's Boys (apparently these are about the March sisters' children). I'd like to see the older movie version, it might get Winona Ryder out of my head  I like Claire Danes as Beth though, she's fab :)

I've seen Nought and Crosses mentioned and praised so many times on this forum that it's impossible to miss it  I researched it in wikipedia but it didn't sound like something I'd like though (I guess it sounded complicated with all the different classes or whatnot). But you never know... Let me know how you liked it! :)

Why why why won't they allow books in the Disney School?? That sounds so medieval. And sick. Now I'm sad :(

  24. I don't blame you for not watching The Bachelor, I have no idea why I still bother with it. I can't watch it anymore without thinking this is so scripted and lame. But I guess I'm a creature of habit and can't avoid most of the reality shows that are shown here

I never watch the Bachelor, so I didn't know he was from here! I love Seattle, and I'm sad I'm living so far away from it right now (I'm about 90 minutes away). It's so pretty! You should come visit, and I'll show you all my favorite places.

I definitely want to visit Seattle at some point, maybe during my larger-than-life roadtrip to the US. There are so many places I want to visit and see, I think I need to win the lottery before I can make it happen for real :D

  25. I don't think a wee ciggie with a drink does us that much harm, it's one of those quilty pleasures one needs. Or doesn't really need but can't avoid ;) I always say it's better to smoke when drinking than to smoke all the time. I know I couldn't resist smoking when drinking so I just let go. As long as I don't get used to smoking all the time. Let's watch ourselves on that, right? :)

I'm feeling so much better than yesterday, but still not me normal self. I hope you have a great day and have woken up refreshed. Did you get sleep? Is OH better than yesterday? :friends0:
